Single Device Party Game ‘Out of the Loop’ Releasing on June 14th

There’s nothing quite like sitting around a table with a bunch of your friends and playing a board game. In this digital age though, lugging around a box of cardboard and keeping track of a bunch of game pieces isn’t always so easy. That’s why I love party games on mobile devices. Pretty much everyone has a mobile device of some kind on them at all times, so should the desire to play a game with a bunch of friends pop up, you’re already ready to go. Last year, developer Tasty Rook released one such game called Triple Agent (Free), which had friends passing around a single device and trying to figure out who amongst them was an agent for an evil organization. This past March during GDC, we sat down with Tasty Rook to look at their new game Out of the Loop which was a different spin on the Triple Agent formula. This hands-on demo gives you a good idea of what the game is all about.

What I love about Out of the Loop and Triple Agent, as well as ultra-popular games like Heads Up! ($1.99), is that you can play using a single device, so even though everyone probably has a smartphone you don’t have to go through the hassle of all downloading the same app and getting synced up. You simply pass the same device around, which means you can bust out a party game with very little effort at any time. Today Tasty Rook is announcing that Out of the Loop is all finished up and ready to go, and will be launching on the App Store next week on June 14th. So gather some friends, maybe stock up on some adult beverages, and look forward to having some laughs when this one drops next week.
