‘Fortnite 4.2’ Adds HUD Customization, a New Burst Assault Rifle, and the Return of Solid Gold Limited Time Mode

TouchArcade Rating:

Fortnite (Free) 4.2 downtime has now begun and the big patch is now live on iOS. The downtime usually lasts an hour before servers come back up. The focus on patch 4.2 is HUD customization on iOS for me. This is something many people have asked for and Epic Games has finally added it in. They also claim that this is the initial 1.0 release for customization and that it will improve and evolve over time. The other big addition is apples that can now be foraged around trees as an uncommon item for a small health recovery.

On the weapons side of things, New Legendary and Epic Burst Assault rifles have been added that use medium ammo. The bigger improvement that should help out all platforms is the increase in server performance. The tick rate has been increased by 50% and while this does consume a bit more bandwidth, it will allow for a more responsive game.

As with all recent updates to Fortnite, you need to download the small one from the App Store while the actual big update downloads from within the app. Also since I still see a few people talking about invites, you don’t need an invite to play it on iOS anymore and haven’t for a while. Just download it from the App Store. If you do play it, we have a dedicated channel in our Discord. Make sure to join our Discord channel here to squad up and get some Victory Royales.
