Hello everyone, and welcome to the week. It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. It hasn’t been the busiest week as far as updates go, but I’ve managed to find several good ones for your reading pleasure. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper Social (Free), the watchlist in the TouchArcade App (Free), or by participating in the TouchArcade forums, but this weekly summary is here to fill in the things you might have missed.
LUMINES PUZZLE & MUSIC, $2.99 Lumines has been getting a steady trickle of new skins to supplement the ones it already comes with. This update adds two more, STRANGERS and Lie in Rhodes, both returning from previous Lumines games. They’ll cost you $0.99 each. This update also includes bug fixes, UI adjustments, and an improved ranking function. The developers have also noted that they are going to be updating the game to help out colorblind players.
King Rabbit - Classic, Free The long-awaited level builder update for the excellent King Rabbit is here. Now you can build levels to your heart’s content, play levels made by the community, and share your own designs around. This awesome addition to an already great game earns King Rabbit a highly-coveted Update Mondays Most Spider-Mans of the Week award. Bunnies!
Demon's Rise, $7.99 This is a relatively small update by the standards of this developer, but it’s still got enough stuff to be worth mentioning here. The most obvious improvement comes with the minotaur character class, who got a slick new model with a higher polygon count. His stunning good looks have seen him take the place of the ogre on the main menu. Take that, Shrek! There are some new animations for the half-giant, and a spiffy new app icon. Oh yes, and bug fixes.
World of Tanks Blitzâ„¢, Free World of Tanks kicks off its first blitz of the year with an update that adds new boosters for experience and cooldown times, an updated Dead Rail map, and a Lunar New Year-inspired event called New Moon that brings some interesting vehicles into the mix. It’s the perfect way to practice for the upcoming Venusian Invasion, friends.
KingsRoad, Free KingsRoad‘s next big event is called Divine Blessing, and it begins February 2nd. A new Sacred Crusader appearance set awaits the diligent. Finally, the Gleam of Hope Tournament kicks off tomorrow, so there are plenty of things to keep you busy for the next little while. All in all, this seems to be a fairly popular entry in the Man Wearing Helmet Angrily Shouting with Spittle Coming Out of his Open Gob genre of games.
Respawnables - Special Forces, Free This game, whose icon features a good boy who knows how to smolder with anger without spewing saliva all over everyone else, gets a lot of great updates, and this is certainly another one. Respawnables is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special event featuring a new Rooster armor set and some new golden armor. The Rooster gets a new weapon called the Fire Clacker, while the golden set grants you the glorious Explosive Mini-Gun. These tough troops might dress like chickens, but they’re anything but.
Super Phantom Cat - Be a jumping bro., $1.99 Super Phantom Cat is all over the Lunar New Year celebrations in its latest update. The new eleventh chapter is titled SpringTime, and it adds three new levels with some interesting new ideas inspired by the holiday. Check out the new broken blocks and scrolling platforms, and keep your eyes open for roosters.
Puzzle & Dragons (English), Free Puzzle & Dragons has a new version with a bunch of little additions and improvements for players to enjoy. There are eight new Latent Awoken skills, plus five new monsters. Some balance adjustments include the Auto-Heal skill now healing 800 HP, an assist system to replace skill transfers, and the ability to choose which Latent skills will be replaced when you learn a new one. There are also some UI adjustments and bug fixes.
Leap Day, Free Leap Day has added a bunch of new characters to collect including Chuckles the Clown, Felon the Convict, and ten more. The developers have also adjusted some of the snow and winter levels to make them a bit less frustrating and more fun all-around. There are also a bunch of new goofy selfies you can share. Keep on leaping!
Asphalt 8: Airborne, Free The latest update to Asphalt 8 has all the things you’ve come to expect from a new version of this game. There are some new cars, a new location, and a handful of cool new events. The new cars include the McLaren MP4/8, the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition, the Lamborghini Aventador SV, and a special Renault Alpine Celebration. Good luck getting any of them!
VOEZ, Free One of Rayark’s newer musical titles, VOEZ got a new update with a bunch of things that aim to please. There are some special new Song Packs available to buy that include special songs you won’t find anywhere else. The song select UI has gotten a complete overhaul that should make it easier to navigate, as well. As usual, there are bug fixes and lots of optimizations to round things out.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks.
