There are two PC games that everybody has been getting on about as to their potential iOS release: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Death Road to Canada. Isaac is a whole other animal, but at least Rocketcat Games is putting the hammer down and finishing up Death Road to Canada for iOS. Kepa Auwae of Rocketcat Games went on our forums to talk about the plans for the iOS game:
I promise that I’m more disappointed with the delays than anyone. However, we felt that there things going in the updates that really should be in for the launch of the iOS version. Achievements being the big one, but also the better AI update (which took awhile) and some others. Holiday slowdown accounts for the rest.
We’re wrapping up the achievements and then will focus entirely (barring any emergency) on iOS until that’s out.
Another one of our forum members has this to say:
To the people who are disappointed at the late iOS release:
If you think it’s delayed a bit too much, you’ll be glad that it’s all worth the wait once you get to play it. The updates on the PC version made the game a lot better than it was on release. With PC’s consistent content updates, game tweaks and balances (very important), and general bug fixes, you’ll have a better experience with the AORTA version once you get it on iOS.
Having played a Testflight build of Death Road to Canada for iOS, the game does adapt well for touchscreens, but if we’re getting some more features for a better launch experience, well, that’s worth the tradeoff. Just means this one might be in strong contention for 2017 game of the year after a very crowded 2016 field.
