‘Clash Royale’, ‘Severed’, and ‘Riptide GP: Renegade’ Take Home Game of the Year Nods from Apple

Apple just updated the App Store to include all of their end of year picks, which you can check out here. The most noteworthy of all the nods is the Game of the Year awards which were split across their three gaming platforms: iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. There’s also loads of “Best of" games featured, and after a quick overview, I can confirm that the games they picked are in fact pretty awesome.

iPhone Game of the Year went to Clash Royale (Free) which I think everyone by now is familiar with. (If not, here’s our review.) iPad Game of the Year went to Severed ($6.99), a first-person adventure game that we gave five stars to. Meanwhile, Apple’s Apple TV Game of the Year goes to Riptide GP: Renegade ($2.99). We never specifically reviewed the Apple TV experience of Riptide GP: Renegade, but we liked it on the iPhone an awful lot.

I’d think most people around here also own their top ten iPhone games and top ten iPad games, but if you don’t, those are some quality titles. We’ll be publishing our own best-of’s and Game of the Year stuff during the iTunes holiday freeze in a couple weeks… But, Apple’s picks are a great place to get started when it comes to filling out your library.
