If you’ve been looking for a good flight simulator, keep an eye on Take Off, which will, well, take off June 9th. As I wrote about a few weeks back, Take Off tries to offer plenty of variety in the experience of flying rather than just have you fly from A to B like an overpriced taxi service (though an Uber version of what would be interesting). Instead of that single scenario, Take Off will have you flying rescue missions, offering sightseeing services, performing emergency landings, and much more. The game simulates day/night cycles and a variety of weather conditions to making flying more enjoyable and more treacherous.
Take Off will include 14 different planes – from huge airliners to tiny little things – and you’ll be able to upgrade those planes both mechanically and visually as well as build your own airline and buy new planes. What I hope the developers have considered is the particularities of the mobile platform; in other words, I hope there’s a constant autosave function or something like that. The game comes out June 9th, so get ready to fly (and crash).
