Mortar and Bomb Tower Nerfs Coming as Well as More ‘Clash Royale’ Balance Changes

TouchArcade Rating:

Well, everyone expected this to happen, and Supercell obliged. In the upcoming Clash Royale (Free) patch hitting May 3rd, Mortars, Bomb Towers, Elixir Collectors, Cannon, Royal Giants, Mirrors, and more will see much-needed changes. More specifically, Mortar deployment time will be increased to 5 from 3 seconds and damage decreased by 10%. The reason is the Mortar currently is too strong for a building with both offensive and defensive capabilities and offers too much value for 4 Elixir. Also, its use in Arena 8 is too high for such a specialized and contentious card. Bomb Towers will see their lifetime decreased to 40 seconds from 60 seconds because as it stands, the unit is too dominant and difficult to deal with in low to mid Arenas.

Elixir Collector will see its hitpoints decreased by 20% because its use rate is very high at the top currently and feels like an auto-include. Additionally, it’s too good in its role as a distraction and damage absorber. Cannons will also see their hitpoints decreased by 11%, Royal Giants range will be increased by 1, Mirror will mirror Common and Rare cards 1 level higher, and finally the Valkyrie and the Mini P.E.K.K.A. will now be affected by pushback (for instance when hit by a Fireball). The developers hope that these changes will make the game more fun to play and fairer. I think I agree with most of these changes, though I still hate the Witch.
