This past December, Square Enix announced that they would be releasing an enhanced port of their classic 16-bit RPG Romancing SaGa 2 on iOS devices in Japan. Given that the game had never been translated to English, and that it was a highly quirky and niche game to begin with, it seemed pretty unlikely that the game would ever make it outside of the shores of Japan. Which was a shame because it was such a unique title. Well, earlier this month we were very happy to have been proven wrong as Square Enix confirmed that the Romancing SaGa 2 iOS game would indeed be releasing worldwide. Today they’ve posted a brand new trailer for the game detailing its many features, both new and old.
Now, it’s kind of a stretch to say this is a “new" trailer, as it’s basically the same one they released when the release date for the Japanese version of Romancing SaGa 2 was announced. But hey, this one’s in English and I can actually understand what it says. That makes all the difference! Unfortunately, a release date for the worldwide version is still TBA as of this writing, as is the exact price, though the Japanese game sells for ¥1,800 which would translate to around $16-20 here in the US. We’ll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime you can check out Shaun’s impressions of the Japanese version of Romancing SaGa 2 from last month and once we have a more specific worldwide release date for the game we’ll be sure to let you know.
