In the (possibly) not too distant future, humans end up destroying the planet, and the world’s apes are not super happy about that. So they retaliate in the only way they know how: By stealing a zeppelin and bombing the crap out of everyone. That’s the premise behind ApeStorm: Full Bananas from developer Snowhound, which I was shown at GDC this week. Check out the video.
ApeStorm seems like a silly game, but it’s also a lot of fun. I really like how you score points by blowing away those jerk humans but get penalized for destroying natural things like trees and birds. It forces you to strategize when and where you’re launching your bombs rather than just mashing away at the fire button. ApeStorm: Full Bananas will be a paid premium game and should hit iOS at some point in April.
Poor noodle gets likened to bad handshakes haha! Great article!
Just wanted to mention I am dying for more info on "Ticket to Earth" and I haven't seen coverage by anyone but you guys. Thanks for the hard work and so glad you brought that one to our attention.
You should do a seminar next year on how to present to the press.
I'm not even a game dev but I thought this article was great. Cheers, Eli!
great article. Would come in useful in any of my lame ass networking effort.
Great article, maybe posting this before GDC may have been more timely but a an informative read nonetheless and devs should take heed of this. Nice work Eli.
Wouldn't it make more sense to record the games directly via Lightning to HDMI adapter to a portable HDMI recorder?
Over the shoulder footage is 60fps vs 30fps and actually seeing how a game is controlled is pretty valuable.
Or you could go really fancy and do both. Multicamit.
