After the absolutely fantastic initial release of puzzle platformer Furdemption (Free), followed by a hefty update that added loads of new content, RareSloth’s little gem is now getting all primed and ready for the addition of a level editor, which we talked about last month. Well, in an effort to get people play-testing the level editor prior to release, and to get the ball rolling on having some levels created, RareSloth is currently holding a level creation contest.
You can find out all the details in this forum thread, but basically what you’ll need to do is sign up with your email in order to get an in-progress version of Furdemption that has the level editor included. Then you’ll make and publish at least one level, and up to a max of 15, which the Furdemption community will be able to download and play (the ones who are currently testing the level editor version of the game, that is). On October 29th RareSloth will pick 3 winners with the top prize winning a $25 iTunes gift card. The runner up will receive $15 in iTunes credit and third place $10 in iTunes credit. Here is a really nifty video showcasing just how the level editor will work for creating levels.
So, what makes for a prize-winning level in Furdemption? RareSloth says “What we’re primarily looking for is good design and creativity. Your goal is to create the most fun and interesting level possible. You shouldn’t try to create the hardest level possible, although a challenge can be good." Based on the folks who are currently testing out the level editor and dropping impressions in the game’s regular forum thread, the level editor sounds like it’s really well done and fun. Following the contest’s conclusion at the end of this month, the editor should officially be released sometime in late November.
So if you’re feeling creative, want to check out the level editor early, want to score some iTunes gift cards, or all of the above, drop by the contest thread and follow the insturctions to throw your hat into the ring of Furdemption user-created levels.
