Attention Weekend Wizards: ‘Avadon 2: The Corruption’ Is Half-Price

TouchArcade Rating:

Spiderweb Software makes some mighty fine RPGs that you can enjoy on your iPad. The developer’s latest game, Avernum 2: Crystal Souls, is due to hit the App Store in a couple of weeks on April 15th. Presumably in celebration of that pending release, Spiderweb has been running some sales on their previous titles. Last weekend, the first Avadon ($9.99) game was on sale for half-price. This weekend, it’s the 2014 sequel to that game, Avadon 2: The Corruption ($9.99). Regularly $9.99, you can pick up this gem for just $4.99 for the next couple of days.

Like all of Spiderweb’s iPad releases, Avadon 2 is an overhead RPG in the grand style of the later Ultima games. No, not the terrible 3D one. Before that. No, not the one with all the weird jumping bits. The one before that one. There you go. It’s a grand adventure on a scale that isn’t often seen in iOS RPGs, and my co-host on the RPG Reload Podcast, the honorable Mr. Eric Ford, loved it when he reviewed the game last year. It’s a game any iPad-owning RPG fan really ought to have in their collection. Imagine how good that will feel with an extra fiver in your pocket. You could buy snacks of nearly equal price to enjoy as you play the game!

All silliness aside, this is a really great value for your money. Sales on Spiderweb’s iPad games aren’t super-rare, but they also never dip below half off, so you might as well get while the getting is good. With any luck, we’ll get sales on the Avernum games before this is all through, too. We’ll let you know if that comes to pass, but there’s plenty of Avadon to get up to in the meantime. Happy adventuring, everyone!
