‘Grand Theft Auto III’ Gets the iPhone 6 Resolution and MFi Controller Support Update Treatment

TouchArcade Rating:

On Wednesday, Rockstar Games released an update for their iOS port of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City ($4.99) that added support for the native resolutions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as support for all Apple Made For iPhone (MFi) controllers. A similar update was released for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ($6.99) way back in October of last year, which kind of made sense as that’s sort of the “flagship" GTA game out of the original 3D trilogy. However, it was nice to see GTA: Vice City get some love too, and everyone wondered if Grand Theft Auto III ($4.99) would get a similar update soon. The answer is: Yes! Right now! An update has just hit adding the exact same things to GTA III as the Vice City update earlier this week: support for iPhone 6 screens, MFi controllers, and assorted bug fixing.

I really need to give credit to Rockstar for all the long-term attention they’ve given their catalog of iOS ports. Not only have they now updated all three of the classic 3D Grand Theft Autos with modern features, but they even massively revamped their iOS port of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Free) last December bringing that game–which originally appeared on iOS way back in 2010–into the modern age. So I guess all that’s left is a little love for the iOS port of Max Payne ($2.99)? What do you say, Rockstar?
