Earlier this month, we learned that a mobile version of the latest Madden NFL game would be hitting the App Store right alongside its console big brother on August 26th. Hey, that’s today! And true to their word, following a brief soft-launch period, Madden NFL Mobile (Free) is now officially available in the App Store.
You may remember that last year’s mobile Madden was a free to play abomination, and it looks like many of those negatives are carried over to this year’s edition. Always online requirement, a stamina energy system, multiple in-game currencies… it’s all here.
On the bright side, EA has definitely put some work into the visuals and player animations, and the whole menu system seems much more user friendly now. So, there’s that, I guess.
At any rate, Madden NFL Mobile is now available and it’s free to download and try, so if you’re an NFL football fan looking for some sort of gaming fix on the go, then you might as well give it a shot and let people in our forums know what you think about it.
Update: Well, just a few minutes after posting this, Madden NFL Mobile is now saying it’s temporarily unavailable in the App Store. We’ve reached out to EA to see what the deal is, and we’ll update this post again should the game return.
Update 2: It looks like Madden NFL Mobile is back, I’m currently downloading it from the US App Store without issue. In addition, a new trailer has been added to this post.
