BulkyPix has been hyping up their upcoming adventure game Hysteria Project with a series of teasers, and has just released the first gameplay video. The game begins with the following premise:
You start in an old cabane after been tied by a strange and frightening guy…
Your eyes are blurred, you feel your heart pulsing on forehead sides.
You see this strange logo everywhere around you and start to hear weird cries.
There is only one thing to do.. escape and stay alive!
The developers describe the game as a “groundbreaking gaming experience" with an interactive series of video clips.
Go along with the video clips, keep a sharp eye on what’s going on around you and most importantly of all – make the right choices at the right time.

The game plays like a choose-your-own-adventure book set to video. This video shows the initial decisions to be made:
The initial “pilot" episode should be available in the coming weeks and offer 30-40 minutes of play for $1.99. Subsequent episodes will continue to reveal a longer running story.
God what a waste of the MGS franchise here. Bland, crappy animation with poorly implemented Time Crisis-like gameplay.
I bet they'll price this at 9.99 too.
Dude, you say this from the screens? you havent even played it n00b
I'm going to be getting this ASAP how about anyone else?
hmmm... i am still not sure about this game. It looks nice, but i just don't know how much fun a plain old rail shooter will be(duck hunt anyone?).
I was really hoping for something more than this for an MGS game, but oh well. Plus, notice how we keep getting "screenshots" and never any videos.
Who the heck cares? This game is going to be trash anyway. I agree with foolishwolf. They could pay me to play it though, cause I'm not spending my money on this.
I'm with the rest, I'm going to overlook this one. What sucks is that they'll put this out, it probably won't sell well, then they'll say "MGS is not a game for the iPhone" instead of saying "a point and shoot game does not sell for the iPhone." C'mon Konami, give us MG fans something with the stealth / action gameplay we've grown up with. MG was never an action game until MGS4 came out, you were actually punished for using your guns.
I pretty sure the original MGS (PSX version) would run on the iPhone quite well. Sure the iPhone doesn't have the buttons for a direct port but I don't think they needed to go as far as dumbing it down to a crappy 2D duck hunt game.
Snake's Crossbow Training would be a lot more appealing at about $5.00
being someone who has beat the ps3 game a half a dozen times, i really dont see this being very exciting, and judging from how they nickel n dime the metal gear online players, this will be pricey.
You guys make me laugh so much, how can you say it's gonna be rubbish without even playing it? This is classic "toys out of the pram" stuff, so konami hasn't made a fully fledged MGS yet, maybe based on how this sells they may? With all your blinkered comments though you don't deserve it.
I will buy this on day 1 and hope some of you change your childish attitude to what just may be a great game if you give it a chance.
I really need to see some live video before I can judge this. It's really hard to tell what it will be like in motion.
I don't think that Kojima will damage his MGS Franchise.
Don't criticise the game before you've played it.
It's probably not as cool as Zen Bound and many other games from tiny studios, but Japanese developers can also make stunning mobile games.
I wonder if something like the Gameboy Advance version of MGS would work on the iPhone...
After seeing these screens there is no way I will buy it. It is just a extremely watered down version of MGS4. If I want to fight the bosses I will play the real thing. It is a hell of alot better.
And again MGA for the iPod touch please. A sequel or prequel or a totally new story not a remake. Or extremely poor watered down game. I do not care if it will take 500MB or more so long as it is a proper MGA title.
@Crim
While they will probably stupidly state "MGS does not for iTouch/Phone" if this doesn't sell, it would be foolish for them to instead state, as you wish, "point and shoot doesn't sell for iTouch/Phone", because Time Crisis, Wild West Guns, and Shooter all say "hi" ;)
BTW, I'm less disappointed in this not being a stealth action game and instead being a tap shoot affair (as I love light gun games, tbqh, and this is as close to that as you can get on mobiles) than I am with the idea that this is supposed to give a more fleshed out story to MGS4...and yet the story is conveyed by unlocking artwork with some text on it or by sheer non-interactive dialogue scenes.
If Kojima REALLY wanted to tell story with this thing, he'd have made this along the lines of his own Snatcher and Policenauts. Those two games were adventure games (think point and click), with all the tropes of that genre (investigation, exploration, item finding, gathering clues, branching NPC conversations, etc.) with instances of light gun shooting. Something like THAT would've been a friggin' killer app. Kojima returning to the intense adventure gameplay of Snatcher and Policenauts, but this time with the MGS IP? Sign me up. But this...I dunno. Might be a fun diversionary light gun game, but it could've been so much more in depth.
So again, I wouldn't have minded something other than stealth action if it were along the lines of Snatcher. This could've been that...but it isn't. Too bad.
Pretty much I view this overall as just a lazy effort to capitalize on the iPhone market without actually putting much into it. It's like Konami doesn't fully believe this market is ready yet so it decides to put a half-ass effort forward, exploit the market with such an effort and hope to make a profit.
I know the game isn't out yet, but it should be fairly obvious this game isn't going to get oohs and ahs. I keep thinking this is some crappy flash game on a boring arcade website. If this is anything over 4.99 then it's highway robbery.
I dont understand why they think because they slap a name brand on a game its going to be successful. Stop making games that dont work on this platform already!
@Yagami_Light. I hope you're being sarcastic, as to compare the very deep and lavish PS3 version of MGS4 to this throw away budget duck hunt clone is an incredibly bizarre thing to do.
If you guys don't want it, then don't buy it. Now stop whining about the damn game
I agree with rasterico and vende. You guys need stop whining like little babies. This is kidding ridiculous.
i know all you guys are all upset....me too...i'm feeling so hopeless and sad that something so good could be portrayed into something so bad!!
Its just like that SOUTH PARK EPISODE where G.Lucas and S.Spiellberg totally raped Indiana Jones... LOL
this time snake is getting the rapage...
Mei Ling: "Snake? are you there? Snake? SNAKE? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
GG
however.....it is STILL hideo kojima....I will at least keep an interest...and keep a little...tiny tiny tiny faith.
and its also good that east asian companies are taking interest in iDevice.
The games they play in Korea are amazing....Look at Lineage...I'd love to get more east asian companies developing games...they'll sell big time.
No.
Nothing more can be said. This will suck unless it has some genius controls, amazing animation, breathtaking sound, and edge of your seat action, and there is yet a game to have all these things.
You morons who said there is no video have been too lazy to check out their trailer on their site. I don't think this game will be amazing, and I think it will be overpriced, but I don't think it will be terrible. Just don't hold it to the high standards of a freakin console game, especially a series that raises the bar on every console it lands on.
I would have really preferred to see the MG Acid games here instead. Much easier to implement and mirror.
Like most people I'm disappointed that they chose this style of game for the first MSG game on the iPod. But this is STILL Metal Gear Solid. So I'm most likely still buying it. It's got great graphics, and the current gameplay isn't really down to the point of being awful. It could get enjoyable especially when packed with a good story. But of course the price is important. If it's anything more than 4.99 or 5.99, I'm gonna pass.
Damn ! How can you guys compare a full MGS game to a mobile version ? It costed Konami 6 Million Dollars to built MGS4. We are talking about a version which will be 9.99$ for ONE type of mobile device. They could have made a full MGS (I'm pretty sure the iPhone can take it) but you would have to pay 50$ (like any real console game).
The worst of all, you are already bashing a game which we haven't played yet and haven't even seen a video. Personnaly, I don't have anything about on-rail shooters (House Of The Deads series, Time Crisis series) so why not MGS ??
PS: But the way, I'm sorry for my english (I'm Quebecois)
@Quebec Rage
There already WAS a video. Just wanted to give you the heads up. Check out the older entries here on toucharcade. You'll find it.
1) let people be mad if they want. calling someone out for whining is just as bad as a whiner. this is a "opinion" section so let everyone have a opionion.
2) The games graphics look awesome.
3) about MGS the "franchise". I think alot of people who said this is going to be a cheap knockoff duck hunt wrapped in a franchise are DEAD ON.
parrallel this with Star wars the force unleashed. Think about "every" possible star wars game fantasy you could imagine with the iphone, lightsaber battles, fps, flying a xwing into the deathstar.
then replace all those ideas with a craptastic game where you swipe patterns and you have starwars iphone. basically if they took out starwars, took out the characters, the cutscenes and just left you with the swipe game, you'd think it was a joke. Just like alot of people on this forum who are MGS fans... take out MGS.. and the graphics, and just leave the code, and you have duck hunt.
boring. please sell it at 99 cents so I don't feel bad after I realize what I've purchased.
