FDG's Tower Defense Title 'Crystal Siege' Still Alive and Kicking, Heading to iPad in Q4 this Year

Back at GDC 2013, I sat down with FDG Entertainment to check out their upcoming tower defense title Crystal Siege, and it looked really good. Whereas many tower defense games task you with setting up your defenses and then just sitting back and watching as the creeps roll in, Crystal Siege is going for a more active approach. You control a main character while the creeps are attacking which you can jet around the map and help out as needed, and there are also several types of environmental traps you can trigger to help take out the bad guys. One of the things I dislike about tower defense games is passively watching as the action happens, so those types of hands-on elements are really appealing to me...

GDC 2013: Tower Defense Game 'Crystal Siege' Has Some Cool Tricks Up Its Sleeve

FDG Entertainment was on hand at GDC to show off a couple of their upcoming projects, one of which was a very interesting tower defense game called Crystal Siege. Right off the bat it reminds me a lot of Kingdom Rush [$0.99 / $2.99 (HD)], which isn't a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination, since Kingdom Rush is fantastic. But Crystal Siege also throws in a few more elements that give you a more hands-on approach to tower defense, like directly controlling your main character to help fight off enemies and neat environmental features that you can activate and use to your advantage.
