Imangi Tells Us How 'Temple Run: Brave' Came to Be

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova were just tourists the first time they visited Pixar Animation Studios. The next time? They were game developers, pitching ideas to Disney and Pixar for an upcoming collaboration called Temple Run: Brave [$0.99].

Keith and Natalia are two of the three people behind Imangi Studios -- the house that built Harbor Master [$0.99 / Free (HD)], Max Adventure [Free], and Temple Run [Free] to name a few. Speaking with TouchArcade earlier this afternoon, the husband and wife team expressed just how cool it was to work with Pixar, and they dug into how a collaboration between a massive company and an already busy three-man studio was made a reality.

The TouchArcade Show - Bonus - Interview With Zach Gage

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

On this week's bonus episode of The TouchArcade Show, Eli and I hit up Zach Gage of Zach Gage fame. You should get to know him. He's the brains behind one of the best words game on the App Store, and he's a super opinionated guy who isn't afraid to have a discussion about games as art or his current level of cleanliness. In fact, we dive into these two topics pretty hard during our conversation, if you haven't guessed already.

This is easily our most laid-back discussion we've ever had on the show, but I think it'll end up giving you a really good idea of who Gage is, how he approaches game development, and how things like his personality and background inform that work. We cover a lot of ground in a really short amount of time in this podcast, and even touch on what Gage is doing right now.

To give it a listen, just click on the links below. If you'd like to get these interviews and our regular show instantly, feel free to subscribe to us on iTunes or the Zune Marketplace.

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

A couple of years ago, Brandon and Cody Pollet formed F5 Games as a clever way to sneak into Electronic Entertainment Expo and experience the gaming event firsthand. Both were college students with big ideas, and they ended up leaving it with even bigger ones. E3 gave their studio a soul. When the App Store exploded later, the duo discovered a direction.

In 2011, Brandon and Cody went back to the Los Angeles-based event that got them dreaming big in the first place to reveal Pocket Heroes. They describe it on this week's bonus episode of the TouchArcade Show as the game they've always wanted to make, and it's been a long time coming. Pocket Heroes hits either later this month or early June, almost a full year since the duo initially showed off their idea.

Passion And A Mission: Why Codito Development Is Into Delivering Digital Versions Of Your Favorite Board Games

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

"I've kind of been the driving force behind this." Chris Ewington describes what board games mean to him in passionate bursts. "It's who I am. It's what I do. It's what I was meant to do." Chris is the head honcho at Codito Development, an outfit that specializes in securing licensing and then reproducing tabletop games on iPad under the banner of Sage Games. Chris' experience with porting the tabletop experience stretches long before iPad came into our lives. He used to make "homegrown" computer versions of his favorites to share with friends and family.

In a lot of ways, he's the perfect guy to be doing this. His studio has the talent, and he has an astounding amount of reverence for the art form and what it does differently in today's modern gaming landscape, which is dominated by stupid games like Angry Birds.
