Feral Interactive have finally announced the release date for GRID Autosport. The premium racing game will be releasing sooner than you think. We already learned about the hardware requirements and you will need iOS 11 and a lot of space on your device to play this. They recommend 8GB of free space to avoid installation issues but the game with its free DLC packs will be about 6GB. On the iPhone side of things, it will support iPhone 7 and later and only work on iPad Pros (and the 2017 9.7 inch iPad). The video below demonstrates why it is so demanding:

After doing a live stream showing it off a few days ago, Feral Interactive just announced the release date and pricing for GRID Autosport on iOS today. It will cost $9.99 and no in app purchases. The release date is November 27th worldwide. Check out our forum thread for more information about the game. We will have more on GRID Autosport in the next few days.

I watched the stream and I can say that every game lover has to buy this game. Really console title on iOS.

    • islesfan

I would love to buy it, and have been waiting for a year to buy it, but in that year, apparently my less than two year old phone became obsolete!

      • Dr904

        What phone do you have?

      • islesfan

        6s Plus

      • islesfan

6s Plus. I just bought GRID and it works flawlessly.

  • Honza Nikerle

And what apple tv 4k? I hope to see!

  • Tom

    "iPhone 7 and later"

They also mentioned on twitter later that the iPhone SE is also supported as it seems to just be fast enough

    • islesfan

Can anyone explain how it will run on an SE, but not on a 6s+?!?

      • Tom

The Iphone SE has a smaller and lower resolution screen to the iPhone 6s and the 6S+ has an even larger screen and resolution to drive - so you would expect the SE to have a slight performance boost over the 6s and the 6s to have a slight boost over the 6s+

      • islesfan

But doesn’t that indicate that you can have a lower resolution version? I perfectly accept that it won’t look like it does on the iPhone X, but that’s better than nothing!

      • Dr904

        Yeah. You are right!
The iPad 5 is supported, and it runs this game at a lower resolution. The 6s/6s+ uses the same chip, so it should be able to run the game just as well.

Seems strange to me they're being selective about the devices they support when it could potentially help the game sell better.

      • [FERAL] Ellie

We're being very selective about the devices we support, you're absolutely right. We want everyone who plays GRID Autosport to get the best possible experience, and I'm afraid 6S models didn't make the cut. :]

      • Nigel Murray

Please excuse my misinformed and admittedly unwarranted opinion on this. I'm sure you guys know what you're doing. I'm just glad to see more AAA games make the switch to mobile, even if it means leaving a few users behind. I will be supporting you guys and play this on my iPad Pro.

I read your previous comments and it seems 6S users can still buy this and play this. What other phones will be able to play this?

      • [FERAL] Ellie

No problem, all thoughts and questions are very welcome.
The 6S models are the only phones that are playable unsupported.

      • Nigel Murray

        Thanks for the quick update!

      • marksapolloa

You can still buy and play the game on the 6S but they don’t promise smooth performance on it.

      • [FERAL] Ellie

        This is correct, yes. 👌

    • Jorrell Jones

I think I was the first to ask them about the IPhone SE when the requirements were first released.

  • orangecan

Isn't it a slightly restrictive hardware list though? Obviously it's because nothing else can handle it but the user base of IPad Pro owners must be fairly small surely.

    • Nigel Murray

The users that will be paying $10 for this game will be even smaller. Hope it all works out for them, though.

      • Jinxtah

10 dollars is nothing for a game of this caliber though.

    • [FERAL] Ellie

You're right, yes. We’re conservative about setting our standards. :]

  • João Cruz

I’ve an iPhone 7 so I’ll enjoy the game. I can understand all the frustration of the hardware restrictions but devs repeated several times that their goal is to produce an excellent experience even with some settings tweaked on some devices. This game is a full console title and think devs just want it to be played on its full glory that they can’t achieve on older models. Lazy coding? Don’t think so? Optimization? For sure. Have no doubt this game is going to be the best iOS racer (maybe even the best game) of all times. Contenders in sight? Maybe FF XV Pocket but I’ll have to see...

    • gsaint73

The amount of customization is ridiculous !!!! This is easily the best racing game on any mobile device including the Switch. The Switch has Gear.Club but we have it on iPhone running at 55-60 fps at 1080p

  • baconcow

Several users, including myself, asked if the game targeted 30 or 60 fps, but none were answered (from what I saw). Game is likely 30 fps which is not terrible, for mobile hardware. But, would have been nice to see this answered.

    • gsaint73

Yeah it seems like the iphone 8/x and iPad Pro will be between 45-60 fps. Iphone 7 will most likely run between 30 and 45 fps

      • Nicholas Polydor

A huge shame that GRID Autosport doesn’t target 120fps on Razer Phone and the 2nd Gen iPad Pro models.

      • Nigel Murray

You're kidding, right? You seriously expect this game to run at a stable 60fps let alone 120fps?

    • [FERAL] Ellie

Ah sorry about that, we couldn't get to all the questions we wanted to answer! Your guess is correct. GRID Autosport targets 30 frames per second on every supported device, which means it can run nicely while also preserving battery life.

      • zergslayer69

Is there some option to do 60fps while forgoing graphics in favor of performance? Or is it hard locked to 30fps tops?

  • Jinxtah

Im still bummed out that it requires iOS 11. I'm stuck on iOS 10.3.3 due to the insane battery drain on iOS 11.x, so I'll give this a pass until I upgrade. Still... great to see such a title on the platform. Feral is showing once again that they're the kings of porting.

  • gsaint73

Why does it need iOS 11. ???? I'm on 10.3 and I'm staying there...

  • TheVimFuego

I’m going to retract my previous comment about lack of optimisation effort. They covered it pretty well on the stream. Looks like it deserves the power requirements.

  • Dasker4444

Hopefully they'll promote it for the launch😅

  • http://WWW.LIFEASCINEMA.BLOGSPOT.COM SEAN SHIMMEL

Perhaps I’m missing something? Nice, but nothing spectacularly dramatic over other current racers not commanding such hardware.

Finally a new spetacular graphic race game, and behold it challenges the IAP games. Real Racing 2 has being the king for too long. I’m anxious to buy it at the Brazil AppStore. I’m cheering for the game sucess!

    • [FERAL] Ellie

Thank you! We will make it available on the Brazilian App Store as soon as possible.

  • Luzsec

I update my 7+ to ios 11 just for this beautiful game 😎

  • João Cruz

Out in the USA. Downloading as we speak...

  • João Cruz

Game crashes immediately after Feral logo. 🙁 e-mail sent.

  • Thomas Zink

It is now available in the US store!!

  • [FERAL] Ellie

Yes, you're welcome to play it on your 6S Plus at your own risk. Thanks for checking! :]

    • islesfan

Just letting you know, it works perfectly on my 6s Plus. I mean 100% flawlessly. No crashes, no lag, no issues of any sort. This is extraordinary software, bravo!

      • [FERAL] Ellie

That's really good news, I appreciate you letting us know.
