I feel like developers have been making the promise of fully featured MMORPG's for mobile forever, and it's rarely realized to an extent that compares with the pre-launch hype. There's a few exceptions out there for sure, namely Gameloft's Order & Chaos [Free] series and a few other games that offer large multiplayer experiences, but none of them ever really make you think, "Alright I'm done with playing MMORPG's on the PC, this is it." It's possible that NetEase's Crusaders of Light might change that. If nothing else, the trailer looks awfully cool:

As far as features are concerned, NetEase is boasting some pretty impressive stuff including integrated voice chat which really isn't something you see too often:

Crusaders of Light delivers an authentic PC-quality MMORPG for mobile phones and tablets with over 300 hours of available gameplay at launch! Featuring dungeon raids of up to 40 players, Crusaders of Light bands adventurers together with their friends in real-time to beat epic bosses and unlock legendary gear. Those who enjoy cooperative play can engage in ranked 1v1, 3v3, and 5v5 PvP arena battles, while sharpening their skills in 25v25 battleground fights. Guildmates can also take advantage of the Integrated Voice System as they climb the ranks by battling other guilds for glory and work together to enlarge their territory.

The game just soft launched this morning in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the Philippines with a North American (and worldwide) release coming later. If any of this sounds at all interesting to you, it's probably worth signing up for their pre-launch thing which apparently gives you $50 worth of free in-game stuff when the game actually releases worldwide. We've got a thread in our forums too which hopefully will start filling in with some first impressions.

  • Mrbestapps

Warning, it has auto battle. Avoid.

    • http://toucharcade.com Eli Hodapp

I'm not sure you can launch a game like this without an auto-battle feature, that sort of thing is incredibly popular.

      • Devon Ross

it's really really bad tho, you auto-play everything

    • http://wizodd.tumblr.com Wizard of Odyssey

Because babysitting repetitive motion is so much better?

      • https://www.behance.net/rgdesignhouse Ron

        That's called "gaming".

    • NetEase-Ocho

Autobattle helps with normal questing, but it won't be what you're using in Dungeons or Raids. It won't step out of the fire for you. 😉

      • Krugrrr

I'm playing Land of Glory. Auto-battle does make you step out of fire, just not as quick as a player would.

    • Daniel Wu

Seriously, this game needs auto-battle, it just makes the gameplay easier. Especially on some boring daily quests, auto-battle saves my time. Btw, I hope this game can come to the US asap.

  • ashmike3

    Pre-registered. Looks good

    • NetEase-Ocho

Awesome, what did you like specifically?

      • ashmike3

Just like MMO's. Graphics looked good. Seemed like good gear.

  • Jonathan Iroth

if crusaders of light have auto battle, it's not bad..just don't put in energy system. Wait for release in Indonesia

  • Marvin

Preregistered and did the extra for more points to unlock the next tier.

As far as auto battle goes, if you don't like it, don't use it.

    • KeKhan

Yeah I never understood the auto-battle complaints. Don't hit the button if you don't like it. It's usually not optimal anyway

      • http://toucharcade.com Eli Hodapp

I think a lot of people misunderstand what auto-battle is and what it's for. Auto-battle is for grinding stuff, and the AI will always perform sub-optimally compared to what you're capable of when you're in control. The way people typically use it is auto-battle for stuff that isn't super interesting, then take control when they're actually doing new or otherwise exciting content. I really have never understood either how that's a bad thing- Particularly considering it's totally optional.

      • https://www.behance.net/rgdesignhouse Ron

Because the leveling structures and in game currencies are then geared around autogrinding instead of playing and having fun?

      • http://toucharcade.com Eli Hodapp

Isn't that how every MMO is, including World of Warcraft?

      • https://www.behance.net/rgdesignhouse Ron

Is WoW using micro transactions these days?

      • http://toucharcade.com Eli Hodapp

Yep. If you call $10+ "micro," yeah. You can even (somewhat indirectly) buy gold straight from Blizzard.

      • Heallo

Eli the biggest issue with the autobattle is that they allow it in dungeons. If you're going to allow that you need to have some kind of power or level requirement before they can auto dungeons.

As a healer in this game it's a nightmare trying to group up with people and you always get one or two who refuse to turn off the auto. Especially of its the tank its a nightmare to heal them.

And just knowing the auto feature is there ruins the fun of leveling up for me. I actually enjoy killing mobs for exp but u can't do that here.

I'm fine with some auto but they over did it

      • 0WN3RBogbat

Are there maps in which both fractions are questing? I really like the Pvping besides questing! If it is the case, auto questing is suboptimal, what if a player attacks you when u are on autoplay? Or what if you die?

  • Nivak

Didnt See that coming dling right now waited Long for something else like o&c/2

  • Stetch

Played so many MMORPGs on mobile. And they end up being the same game. Pretty much. Order & Chaos is different however. In a good way.

    • kcz7

So far, my biggest thing I like about O&C is that it supports gamepads. I use my Nimbus with my iP7+ and it's an enjoyable experience for me.

      • Stetch

Wow. I couldnt imagine playing a mmorpg with a gamepad xD But thats just me.

      • http://wizodd.tumblr.com Wizard of Odyssey

O&C is pretty streamlined, it works OK but yeah, I'd rather have a touchscreen, especially if there isn't AppleTV support.

    • http://wizodd.tumblr.com Wizard of Odyssey

I like the latest update to Order and Chaos 2, which includes automatic pathfinding. It removes so much stupid time wasting by not letting you get lost.

Auto-battling is kind of the same thing, to avoid wasting time with grinding.

I've got more interest in this stuff than time to play it. I like games that respect my time.

      • Stetch

"I like games that respect my time". One of the best things I ever heard! Totally agree!

  • kcz7

If it supports gamepads, then I'll be interested & give it a try.

    • Frank Fanelli

does anyone know if it does support gamepad. I'd like to use an xbox controller with usbotg cable. don't like touch controls or mouse and keyboard for that matter

  • Bloodangel

I love mmorpgs! Loved them on pc.
Some nice ones on mobile. Adventure quest 3D is nice

    • http://wizodd.tumblr.com Wizard of Odyssey

I tried AQ3Dast night -- never heard of it before you mentioned it. What a hidden little gem!

  • Krugrrr

Been playing Land of Glory for a couple of days now. I must say I didn't see CoL softlaunching so soon. Auto-battle works just fine. It's not mandatory. Like what they said, 'don't like it, don't use it.' I guess some are just used to playing other mmorpgs out there, broken ones in my opinion. I'm excited to see what else CoL will offer.

Thank you, NetEase! I hope this lives up to expectations.

  • http://about.me/raynler Raynler

Are the servers cross platform? Can iOS players play along with their friends on Android? I'll like to know before pre-registering

    • -=[ Pöchi ]=-

i want to know this as well.. ☹️

  • jForsythe

Been looking for something good to play till Albion comes out.

  • https://www.behance.net/rgdesignhouse Ron

Order and Chaos 2 I was enjoying when it came out, bought some in game currency (first time ever) and I forget what but something happened to it and game loft support gave no shits about helping me so I gave up on playing it.

Hoping this game can compete without resorting to gamelofting.

  • jForsythe

Reminds me so much of Sword of Shadows, so much so that I'd say this is just a reskin job. Something very hinky going on

    • Nivak

Wait what sword of shadows Is the worst game in terms of p2w...and it looks nothing like it Not Even martial arts...

  • Bry Bart

I want to play it. Im in saudi arabia, it isn't available in google play.

    • Nodoak Dozeer

Even though it is region locked I was able to try Crusaders of Light
on my PC from the US via an PC Emulator as was reasonably impressed. It reminded me of early WoW and so far is the only Android based MMO I can find that looks decent has a full Healing/Support role (most others I have investigated are more hack and slash with everyone configured for DPS)...

If you would also like to try it now before it is fully released for your region you can search Google with the string: 'Crusaders Of Light
      Download, Installation & Emulator Guide'

  • taiga97

I've played so many mmos on mobile but never found anything really good. Most of the time that were the same game. In my opinion this is the best mmo on mobile that I've played.

  • Chris Solis

Hello, newbie here. I already earned 5 m silvers in this game. I just want to know if it is worth of being a Guild Master/ Creating a Guild?
I also want to know what are the PERKS of being a Guild Master?
Can a Guild Master transfer his POSITION to other members??
    thanks in advance NetEase 🙂

BTW this is a really awesome game!

    • darkfyra

So it is great,I pre registered yesterday...but I despise auto play because I don't want to watch the game play for me I want to experience it myself.Does it have better questing than most of the ios mmos out there, not just a hack and slash called a mmo,not pay2win also?

  • Adam Jacobson

    whens release date
