Telltale’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ First Trailer Nails the Tone

As you probably now by now, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Episode 1 will release April 18th, and today we got to see the first ever trailer of the game. If you’ve watched the movie or read the comics, you’ll know that the Guardians of the Galaxy universe isn’t the most serious one in the Marvel comic world, and I think the trailer shows that Telltale has managed to nail the slightly-silly tone. While the trailer doesn’t show much in terms of plot beyond the presence of Thanos—which we already knew about—we do get to see a bit more about why the Guardians end up going against Thanos. And, of course, we get to see glimpses of the characters, with Star-Lord being silly as always and Drax literal. And, of course, Groot is Groot. No baby Groot from the looks of it, sorry everyone.

The series revolves around a a hunt for an artifact of unspeakable power. I could tell you about it, but it’s unspeakable, so I can’t. You’ll play as all of the Guardians at different moments in the game as you try to get to the artifact before a ruthless enemy, who is the last of her kind, beats you to it. And, of course, you’ll get to hear some cool music, as was the case in the Guardians movie.
