It seems like today is the day for games that have been out in Japan forever to hit the US App Store. Following closely behind the Pokemon Duels news is Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag [Free]. If you're not big into anime, chances are you've never heard of it, but thankfully like all things anime Wikipedia is on the case. Kicking off with a series of novels, then eventually expanding into animation and video games, the world of Sword Art Online revolves around a virtual reality MMORPG called Sword Art Online. It's a little like The Matrix, in that players jack their mind and senses into Sword Art Online and if you die in-game you die in the real world.

I really don't follow the anime scene too much, so it's always surprising to see games like this which already have massive fan followings from the popularity of the original IP. Folks in our forums seem pretty excited to see this game released on the US App Store. So, if the words "Sword Art Online" mean anything to you, you should give this game a download. I've got it on my list of games to try this week, and I'm curious how the experience will be for someone who knows literally nothing about the IP short of what Wikipedia told me.

Not 100% sure, if I am ready for this...
    O, it isn't review?

At least Yuuki will be with us.

Just don't play it with a VR headset and you'll be okay. Probably.

I'm not sure I want to play this. Getting stuck inside a game where players die in real life if they die in-game doesn't seem like a good idea. Especially not if my wifu will be turned into a useless captive after half a season.

There is nothing bad about being captive, even as waifu in the middle of season. But licked by main antagonist? Every otaku has sort of limits! 🙂

this is actually the 2nd SAO mobile game .. the former never got a global release like this one tho... Memory Defrag has been out in JP for a while

It seems genuinely pretty decent. Swipes, taps and holds for a timing-based action RPG. Started watching the series a few weeks ago, and this is a pretty high-end tie-in. Not got that involved in the gacha stuff yet, but I think it will eat only as much of your money as you let it.

    It's good
