A ‘Transformers’ MMO Based on the Toys Is Currently in the Works

TouchArcade Rating:

If you’re an 80s child like me, then you probably like Transformers – as long as the movies didn’t make you hate the franchise. I’ve been waiting for a good Transformers game to hit iOS, and even though we’ve recently got Transformers: Earth Wars (Free), which has pretty good reviews on the App Store, I’ve been waiting for a game that doesn’t have to do with base building. It looks like my wish will come true after all since Kabam and Hasbro have announced today that they are going to work together to create a new mobile game based on the Transformers franchise. More specifically, this game will be a triple-A MMO based on the Autobots and Decepticons.

We don’t have much more information on the game other than the fact that it will have both role-playing and strategy elements and it will be 3D. According to a Kabam spokesperson, the game will “span all of Transformers lore tied to Generations," and while it will have a bit to do with the Transformers movies, Kabam emphasized that this is going to be a Kabam/Hasbro game and not a Kabam/Paramount.

The game will be developed by the studio responsible for Marvel Contest of Champions, which is pretty promising since that was a well-made game. I’m hopeful that this game will be a fun way to play as your favorite Transformer (or Decepticon), but, of course, it remains to be seen. Expect it to come out sometime in 2017, hopefully sooner rather than later.
