EVE Online is one of those games I wish I had time to play, but I've sort of reached a point in my life where I just don't have it in me anymore to get involved in a super-complex PC MMORPG. Well, at GDC we ran into the guys from Blackjack Studio, who are working pretty hard on the idea of bringing something like EVE Online to mobile. Right now the game is in what they're calling a "pre-alpha," but if you look at the following brief gameplay trailers, it looks pretty cool:

Being so early, it's going to be quite a while before we see something more, but I love the dream of something as huge as EVE Online that I can carry in my pocket and play in my spare time. If nothing else, the idea of playing a mobile MMORPG with a true to scale massive space universe sounds really awesome. If you're on the same page, be sure to add this one to your watch list to get updates throughout its development.

Hope it's iPhone and lives up to its promises!
Also hope it's not too long before its out

    • fearlesskk

Eve online on iphone would be unplayable... You need a big screen. And i believe you are hyped too much and should wait to see

  • Bloodangel

Looks great from the videos... Atmospheric too.
Looks like it would work on iPhone, so let's hope it is on iPhone

I can't find a website for the game developer. I was hoping to check up on them and the game development :(

    • Tyler Mackie

What I did was I first searched Blackjack Studios on YouTube and found their channel. At this point you can subscribe to them. Then go into a video uploaded by them and in the description is a link to their Facebook page, which is their website as far as I can tell.

      • Bloodangel

Looks like a new Facebook page, as no posts on it yet.
        Thanks for the tips m8

      • Edward@Blackjack

Hi Tyler! I'm Edward, responsible of player community from Blackjack Studio. Thank you for helping Bloodangel with our Facebook address. Much appreciated. We are working on our website and hopefully it will come out within a month.

...is that the song from Interstellar?

    • Edward@Blackjack

Hi FRnchFRy! I'm Edward, responsible of player community from Blackjack Studio. You are right that we are using music from Interstellar. We will contact Mr.Zimmer ASAP. If we do not hear from him we will delete the videos and upload new ones. We are posting the videos to get feedback from our friends at early stage since it is really a HUGE project. No commercial use intention. Thank you for reminding!

Using the phrase "no commercial use intended" has no bearing on using copyrighted material without permission. It is not a magical phrase that removes the infringement.

  • Decabol

Game looks really good. Just wondering if this is the game music. It would be cool but Mr. Zimmer should know it.

    • Edward@Blackjack

Hi Decabol! I'm Edward, responsible of player community from Blackjack Studio. You are right that we are using Mr.Zimmer's music. And we are also very sorry that we haven't contacted Mr.Zimmer about the music yet. We will contact Mr.Zimmer ASAP. If we do not hear from him we will delete the videos and upload new ones. We are posting the videos to get feedback from our friends at early stage since it is really a HUGE project. No commercial use intention. Thank you for reminding!

    Looks like an instabuy.

What happened to Firefly Online, by the way?

  • BiffClark

Oh my word!! This is the exact thing I have been waiting for and played many games that just don't measure up. I loved Galaxy on Fire but I am way more into the strategy and tactics than the sheer maneuvering skills.

  • Mike Coker

That looks really cool and will likely be a day 1 purchase. I only wish they would put up a zoomed in shot of the target ship. It would be cool to see my bullets hitting it, maybe showing the shield damage on that screen rather than giant "hp bars".

  • Mike T4

If not for the MMO part, Warpgate is close to EVE, and GoF is quite good albeit casual. This looks interesting

  • Revolvacron

So have you told CCP Games that you're using their nebulae, suns, lens flares, planets and general game design?

    • jForsythe

Maybe this is why I can't find blackjack studio on YouTube, if this post is correct and them using copyrighted music it would be no wonder the videos and the channel is nowhere to be found. The game sounds sound good I hope this all gets sorted.

      Proof?
