EVE Online is one of those games I wish I had time to play, but I’ve sort of reached a point in my life where I just don’t have it in me anymore to get involved in a super-complex PC MMORPG. Well, at GDC we ran into the guys from Blackjack Studio, who are working pretty hard on the idea of bringing something like EVE Online to mobile. Right now the game is in what they’re calling a “pre-alpha," but if you look at the following brief gameplay trailers, it looks pretty cool:
Being so early, it’s going to be quite a while before we see something more, but I love the dream of something as huge as EVE Online that I can carry in my pocket and play in my spare time. If nothing else, the idea of playing a mobile MMORPG with a true to scale massive space universe sounds really awesome. If you’re on the same page, be sure to add this one to your watch list to get updates throughout its development.

I am a couple hours in and loving it!!!!
So it's a gas gas gas?
Brilliant game. It took a long time for me to get in to the first one and it never fully 'clicked' - this has been an instant hook though, highly recommend it.
And without spoiling things for anyone who hasn't found it yet, there's a really handy tool in a side quest not a million miles from where you start that helps immensely with some of the jumps across chasms etc. As a hint, go west and look for a house near the coastline, you'll receive a quest to venture in to the basement.
And it's a one man team, making it even more remarkable. He's been great in the forums, fielding everyone's questions, etc.
I have not played this yet , but I plan to. The big thing that turned me off of
the first game was that you could find all this armour and weapons and
your class of character could not equip them. The sequel apparently allows
you to equip anything you find. That is a huge improvement in my eyes.
Great point and yes you are correct about this sequel.
Any idea how many hours of content this baby offers?
Awesome 80's movie reference, or 60's song reference. OR both!
Abandoned the 1st one, this one has me hooked. Good review.
I don't like the jumping/platforming, it totally ruins it for me. I love everything else, but in the end, I don't want to play the thing.
I guess this game cannot be rated 5 stars as it is not working on last generation IPAD. What a shame ...
Yes, feelin left out in the cold, me and my iPad4 😢
Loved the first one and the notable Ultima fix it provided. Definitely looking to pick this up!
Will the person who have not played the first one feel like he's missing something? I have and like the first one (the second will have to wait, too many unfinished rpgs), and I would like to recommend it so some of my friends, but I would rather recommend a second one because of all the improvements. Unless it will feel incomplete without the first one.
No need to play the first one at all. This one stands alone just fine.
How combat heavy is this? I'm hoping it's more Ultima than Diablo.
It's an action-RPG, so it's very combat-heavy. Sorry!
Bummed that this won't work on my iPad 3 :( Wasn't expecting that restriction at all.
So...confused. It says iPhone only (SD) - is it not a universal app optimized for the iPad screen? Always wanted the first one, never got around to picking it up, too many Final Fantasies (maybe I should stop living in the past!) but now I've got a 9.7" iPP would love to have something fresh on here!
Yes it's a Universal app, I believe this was a mistake by the poster. Why it's not been fixed I don't understand, but I assure you like the first this is a Universal app.
So is this updated for iPad 4, but I was able to buy it.....
Says there's been a update, but I guess waiting on store
Can someone advise this plays better on 6s plus or air 2
The game is pretty poor. It's a sad state of affairs that this is the only open world action RPG of its type akin to Avernum (not on phones) or Ultima. Awful combat, especially with a sword, aiming with mana heavy spells tends to end with a stack of mana being wasted. Respawning creatures far too quickly causing irritating boss fights. A jump system that hasn't been thought out especially on platforms moving in sequences around rocks. Development that's shifted to Steam rather than refining the experience on mobile. Spawn points can be set but a teleportation system would be better to avoid the dull movement through the drab landscape.
