GDC 2016: ‘Grinns Legacy’ – A Touch-Centric Battling RPG

Several years back The Grinns Tale launched on Facebook as primarily a city-building game with battling and RPG elements peppered in. Since that time, city-builders have oversaturated the mobile market, so when considering taking the game, now known as Grinns Legacy, to the mobile market, developer NoStopSign decided to axe the city-building aspect of the game and focus primarily on the battles and RPG elements, with a very intuitive touch-based control system for combat. Coupled with a more robust storyline and a wonderful art style, Grinns Legacy is shaping up nicely from what I’ve seen here at GDC.

NoStopSign is hoping to wrap up development on Grinns Legacy by the end of this month. The game is basically feature complete, but they want to spend some time polishing and testing the game before likely doing a limited soft-launch followed by a full release sometime in the April or May timeframe. The battling is very fun and the lore behind Grinns Legacy seems very interesting, so definitely be on the lookout for this one sometime in the coming months.
