One of the week’s big releases is actually out a bit ahead of schedule – Kabam’s Star Wars Uprising (Free) has just escaped soft launch and gone worldwide on the App Store. This is an action-RPG that borrows heavily from the structure of Spirit Lords (Free) which released earlier this year. This isn’t a bad thing per se as Spirit Lords was a solid game, but it may feel very familiar. We’ll be getting someone else besides myself to review it, so you’ll get a fresh take on the game.

The real reason to anticipate this for Star Wars fans is that the game will actually feature a story that’s canon to the Star Wars franchise now. It joins only a few other pieces of media and few other games as a real part of the Star Wars story canon, joining only a select few other games with that distinction. So that might just make it worth checking out, as it takes place between the prequel and original trilogies.
