‘Cartoon Survivor’ Getting Big Update Fixing Game’s Initial Flaws Next Week

TouchArcade Rating:

Spunge Games’ Cartoon Survivor (Free) released earlier this summer (or winter, for the Australian-based developers), and it was a solid game that boasted inspiration from 90’s 3D platformers like Crash Bandicoot, in an isometric auto-runner format. It was not without its flaws; two key issues raised in our review were the cost of unlocking later levels, and the controls. Well, Spunge Games has gone ahead and addressed those concerns in an update that’s set to release on August 13th.

There are two new control schemes, the default one being one where you slide with your left thumb and tap with your right one to jump. The prices have also gone down in terms of coins to unlock later levels, so you have to do a bit less grinding. As well, the IAP costs to unlock future chapters are dropping to $0.99 for each chapter, or $1.99 to unlock the whole game. It’s a better deal, for sure, and these changes make this game much better than it once was. The update will release on August 13th, and if you’re interested in seeing the updated version in action, check out the replay of our Mobcrush stream last night showing off the update where we gave away codes for the updated version.
