‘Pokemon TCG Online’ Soft Launches in Canada

Pokemon TCG Online has just soft launched for iPad in Canada. We’ve known that an iPad version of the card game was coming for a few weeks now, but it looks like the game is nearing the spotlight with this soft launch. This is, of course, a digital version of the card game series tied in with the Pokemon franchise, that lets players build decks and battle other players online.

The game is currently available worldwide on PC and Mac, so it’s possible that this will be a short soft launch for the game on iPad. The desktop version has been around for a few years now, so this isn’t even a situation like Hearthstone (Free) where the game soft launched but also was still in beta. The Pokemon Company operates the game, and is a separate company from Nintendo, which is why this game is showing up on non-Nintendo platforms, so don’t quite expect a mainline Pokemon game just yet. But given the cachet of the license, this is definitely a milestone release. If you get the soft launch version, progress should carry over from the PC and Mac version, so if you’re already playing you can try the game out on mobile here, or you can jump in for the first time on mobile and buy cards online until the game is available in your region.
