In the very early hours of the morning today, Minecraft Pocket Edition [$6.99] version 0.9.0 hit the App Store. Dubbed the "biggest update EVER" by Mojang, 0.9.0 adds infinite world size, caves, tons of new blocks, monsters, biomes, new places to explore, and more. Better yet, they even tweaked the UI a bit to add an interaction button, so you'll no longer accidentally dig/punch things.

Ever so slowly Minecraft is catching up to the feature set of Survivalcraft, so if you're a Minecraft purist, be sure to grab this update and go nuts walking in one direction… Forever.

It's SOOO good! A little hard on my phone tho. I get some choppiness when loading new chunks on my A6 on best rendering distance and graphics but other than that it runs fine.

  • marcanthony0313

It gets a little laggy in areas of high concentration, like cities and all that. But other than that it's great to play.

    • loophole

      It also kills your battery!

    • nicolai

Haha, awesome, I almost always do this at first, too^^.

  • thejbe

Fantastic update. Now only to implement this onto PS3 and allow existing worlds to have the infinite instead of just new worlds.

  • Rothgarr

It quits out a lot on my son's iPad 2 as well... he tried quitting all other apps, rebooting, and decreasing draw distance, etc. Still kicks him out a lot...

    • gamerman333

They are releasing 0.9.1 next week by the latest hopefully according the devs.

  • PresidentZer0

    No controller suprt -.-

  • Holcman

This is great, it's way better than before! Only a few more things needed for it to be perfect (for m at least).

  • Meowman154

    'bout time!!

  • PresidentZer0

It even crashes on iPad Air.

  • thiagovscoelho

Caves are kind of scary. You're just walking along and there's a random hole in the ground and it's super damn deep and dark.
I'm getting used to the endless world! Spawned in a forest near some mountains and that was really helpful.

  • lr1919

Do you need to create a new world or will it convert your old one so you can continue?

    • br4nd0n

You have to start new one if you want infinite worlds. I couldn't find an option to make old worlds infinite, sadly.

      • lr1919

        Thx, I didn't either 🙁

  • Press2Play

At long last, herobrine here I come!!!! 🙂

  • qman316

Now we need boats and fishing for all the lakes!

    • Stormourner

      we need a bigger boat

    • Wolfcoyote

In my first infinite world I spawned around a group of islands and an Ocean biome; I tried to get materials to craft a boat and found that I couldn't. That stunk...

  • iValerio1990

How can i convert my old map to "infinite range"?

    • Zerodactyl

It's not possible at the minute so you'll have to create a new world unfortunately.

      • iValerio1990

        Oh 🙁 my world..thanks

  • jammyman

It is a wee bit laggy at the start, but if you turn wifi off and close all apps from multitasking, it runs a bit smoother 🙂

  • Salsander

Mineshafts have also made it! 😀

  • khann

I have only found small simple caves. Are there any complex cave systems?

Then i died and i forgot where it was. Wow minecraft just got alot more harder.

  • XboxOne

then upgrade that piece of junk you call the iPod 4th gen!

  • gamerman333

Anyone who's experiencing 'running out of memory' turn down your view distance so it's not the furthest.

  • piraterob

    I found a desert village

  • Wolfcoyote

Don't hold your breath for strongholds; because the Eyes of Ender can't be made, strongholds = needles on a haystack...of needles.

I'm still trying to find and explore my first Abandoned Mine Shaft in the series; so far no luck.

  • khann

    Damn creepers everywhere!

  • Revlution4ever

Is this game gonna support mfi controllers?

  • Rob Fletcher

Same here. Constant on my iPad mini
