HyperDevbox, who you may know from their ports of ExZeus 2 [$1.99] and Spectral Souls [Free] to iOS, have announced in our forums that they'll soon be bringing the tactical RPG Record of Agarest War to the iOS platform as well. Originally developed by Idea Factory, Record of Agarest War was released as far back as 2007 on the PlayStation 3 in Japan, and in the years that followed has made its way to Xbox 360 and PC in Europe and North America as well as Japan. HyperDevbox has already released an Android port of the game back in December of last year, which you can see in action in the trailer below.

According to details in the forum post, Record of Agarest War contains over 100 hours of gameplay, hundreds of different enemies and magic spells, and 40 cutscene videos with full voice acting (Japanese only, though there will be English subtitles). The iOS version will also feature iCloud support, Game Center for achievements and leaderboards, and Universal iPad support. It sounds like it will be quite a meaty experience for fans of strategy RPGs. Record of Agarest War is already submitted to Apple and should arrive soon, so be on the lookout for it.

This sounds baddass! 100 hours!! Well have to see if its a major grind or not but defo need more games like this, and anyone know if it is turn based or in real time action? Defo going on the watch list!

  • RinoaHeartily

Sounds kinda boring... Seldom do one play a game that long... But I hope it does shine

  • Poo

Awesome!!!!! Best news since fftactics. Although tactics ogre would be better.

  • Drizzt79

100+ hours of content? Extended cut scenes? Their gonna have to cut some corners to squeeze this game under the 2 GB limit!

    • nicodemus82

If I remember correctly the PS3 version was around 10GB

Can't wait to own it again and have it on the go!

  • Harti

    needs more explosions.

  • Siveon

Oh, I thought it was Record of Lodoss war for the SNES getting a translation like SMT.

Instead it's this...one. I'm just gonna keep the rule of "got nothing good to say, don't say it at all".

    • Bool Zero

I loved the Lodoss War games back in the day, the anime as well. I didn't think this game was all bad...

      • Siveon

No, not all bad. I just don't think it did anything entertaining. Damn, broke the rule.

I will acknowledge that it's not for me, and the design choices both in art and gameplay aggravate me in a subjective level.

  • defunct32

Yeeeeees!!! Oh my God, I have been jealous of Android b/c I thought it was exclusive but it's coming!

    • defunct32

Wait, I hope this supports minimum iOS 6.

  • Inaba-kun

Makes me wish we'd just get Disgaea or Tactics Ogre on iOS.

  • Ultima12

I find it incredible how far mobile gaming has come. Seriously!!!

  • 21tigermike

They made the Android port first? Weird.

  • Devok

Looks like another game with iAP sad.

    • jacknicklson

None if the other ones had IAP except for full game unlock

  • Zephro

It's a terrible game with an even more terrible combat system that even puts the first Neptunia to shame.
FYI, I have played my fair share of grindy JRPGs, and enjoyed them. Agarest is just flat out bad.
Of course, this is just my opinion.

  • KusanagiShiro

It remains to see which theme song we'll get. I know mao of Linked Horizon (responsible to vocals from several IF games and popular animes) did one song for the PS3 port.
