If you too are on the newly formed Team "F The King" with Arya Stark and Sandor Clegane and are anxiously following along with the new season of Game of Thrones (Which I couldn't watch until last night... Thanks, HBO Go!) you really owe it to yourself to check out Disruptor Beam's Game of Thrones Ascent [Free] for iPad. Sure, it's a free to play game all dressed up with timers and currencies, but it's dripping with enough fan service to please even the most hardcore Game of Thrones fan.

What's especially neat about this game though is that instead of doing the crazy thing that a lot of games do when they use some kind of popular IP where it all exists in a crazy mashed up alternate universe, they actually have plans to release weekly updates that coincide with what happened on the show. So, for instance, the game has already been loaded with content from the most recent episode, Two Swords.

You'll be able to go on quests that follow the events of the episode, loot iconic items (like Jamie's golden hand), pledge fealty to the Martells, and tons more. I'm actually pretty impressed by how aggressively they're adding content to the game, and I'm really curious to see if anyone is actually going to be able to play through it all.

After playing for about 30 minutes,
    1) I had not yet completed the tutorial
    2) I had not yet figured out a single thing about how to play

    Deleted.

I had accomplished both of those too. Quite confusing. But it's pretty to look at and listen to. But since it's difficult to follow, and we're seasons behind, AND it's not on iPhone yet, I haven't played much. But I imagine I'll keep with it... Once it becomes universal... and we get caught up. Man, I hope they don't spoil anything!

I started playing when it soft launched and it's dripping with fan service and potential.

However, since about 5 minutes in I've encountered endless bugs that still haven't been fixed. Basic things like building upgrades that take my materials but don't actually upgrade. It's basically unplayable so I just collect my silver and wait for fixes.

When you say "Fan Service", do you mean a colloquial interpretation of the phrase, or the traditional 'anime / manga' meaning (ie bounce?)?

I'm guessing that was a mis-use of the phrase & it made me double take.

Played both on PC and IOS, different houses, different responses each time, and it appeared the entire event progression was identical, a canned story that my interactions had little effect on. Perhaps I didn't give it enough time, but it

I'm a huge GoT fan and despite that, this shameless money grubbing excuse for an app didn't last a whole hour on my device. Timers just killed this experience.
