Cliff Harris of Gratuitous Space Battle [$9.99 (HD)] is bringing Democracy 3 to the iPad per a recent post on the Positech blog. In this simulation game, you are the leader of a country and you’re faced with all the challenges that you can imagine. For those unfamiliar with the series it might seem a bit hard to understand at first because you’re not doing it from a 3D viewpoint. Instead, you look at charts, numbers and texts to better understand the consequences of your action and react accordingly. It’s been quite successful on PC and Democracy 3 was released late last year to glowing reviews.

Here’s a trailer from the PC version to better illustrate:

This type of interface is, of course, quite fitting to the iPad and even though Cliffski isn’t quite happy with the sales of Gratuitous Space Battles (a game that we loved ), he wants to release it to the iPad in the hope that those looking for a hardcore strategy game will be pleased. I’m curious to see how a niche game like Democracy 3 will be received by our community but for now you can talk about it here.

Take my money.. been wanting to play this.

I was dying to play this after seeing TotalBiscuit's WTF is video on it. I never got around to getting it on PC, so this is perfect!

Can I buy it and send it as a gift to Taiwanese president Ma? He clearly needs to play that game since he doesn't have a clue what "democracy" means!

Did you find it to make proper decisions in your opinion? On Steam I read lots of bad reviews saying it made erroneous decisions based on player input.

Well, I played #2, I any case, this is my kind of game..... Where thinking beats fast reflexes.

My thinking always beats my reflexes. 🙂

"Was released last year to glowing reviews." I played the previous version on the PC, but never bought the newest version 3 because the major glowing reviews on Steam were negative, and they glowed alright. 🙂

Sounds fun. It's nice to have a game that is its own thing and not a clone of some other successful game like all the endless runners and flappy birds.
