Developer Proletariat is here at GDC showing off their interesting looking massively multiplayer strategy game World Zombination. It's a classic tale of humans fighting against a zombie invasion, but with the twist that you can play as either side. The MMO element has to do with how many players will all be plugged into the same planet at the same time, either fighting to infect the world or fighting against it. Here's a demo of World Zombination with a look at both the zombie and the human sides.

As you can see in the video, one of the coolest aspects to World Zombination is the sheer number of zombies you're able to spawn on the screen at one time. It really makes it feel like how a zombie invasion should feel. I also really dig the art style in the game, and the various zombie types which you'll need to use strategically to take out those pesky humans. World Zombination should be out by this fall, so make sure you've got it on your radar.

Looks interessting, and it has a really cool art style, but I'm curious about the IAP.

From Gordon's reply a few comments down, he posted an article by their CEO regarding their stance on IAPs. After reading it, I am even more confident in the game, with what seems like such a great team behind it. I was a bit worried at first about it as well, but I think they have a good chance at handling it in a way that wont feel like you are hitting paywalls and such that make IAPs so bad to me as a player. I suggest anyone else who is curious about this game and how IAPs will be implemented check out the article as it was really well put.

EDIT - The comment is not yet showing up as it is awaiting moderation, it will be in his responses to my comments below, so once it finally shows up, check it out! :)

I know the people who made it.

      • ZarieoZ

lol I kinda feel like you're talking to one of the people who made it ;-)

      That's great to hear!

Build it and they will come ;) I do hope that there won't be too heavy of an influence on IAPs, as that will kill it for me, otherwise, I could sink many hours into a game like this. Everything from acquiring new units to leveling up existing ones, playing both sides of the "war", strategizing how to place units, etc. This is one of my most looked forward to games from what has come out of GDC so far.
