UK developer Ustwo has unveiled their latest upcoming iOS project, dubbed Monument Valley. They describe it on the game's development blog as "a bit like an interactive M.C. Escher artwork," and after witnessing their brief teaser trailer for Monument Valley, I think that's incredibly accurate. Personally, I also got a Wonderputt [$0.99 (HD)] meets Fez vibe, but check it out for yourself and see what you think.

According to Ustwo's posts in our forums, Monument Valley still has quite a ways to go before it's finished, and they're actively recruiting beta testers to get some early feedback on the game. It sounds like those beta spots are going to be gone fast though, as there's a ton of interest in Monument Valley already, and I can totally see why. We'll be following along with Monument Valley's development, so keep your eyes peeled for more information in the future.

Just from watching that short trailer I'm smiling like a buffoon. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one.

Got to watch that trailer again.

It has a similar quasi-3D feel to aspects of Tengami, which I adore. Escher-eque optical illusion puzzles have been done to death, but a smart aesthetic, soothing soundtrack, and ideally story elements woven into the locales which comprise the puzzles, and I'm prepared to fling myself into its waiting arms :O)

Looks great. I suggest they run two betas though: one for the release version, and another for the one that will ruin the game a month later.

I was going to totally ignore this but then I watched the trailer... Yeah, this is a buy come midnight!

    • CzechCongo

Looks like you ignored the article as well. ;) It's not coming out at midnight.

  • Michael O'Connor

My brain hurts just from watching the video. Ouchies.

Looks great. Definitely adding this to my watch list.

Needs Bowie in a jumpsuit or at the very least some stair levels. But I'm SO keen for this one! :)

Makes me think of Edge, actually. Slower paced and more detailed environments but it looks like the same attraction of surprising changes in your environment to overcome.

    • Scape3d

I thought Edge as well. Edge is so good.

Added to Watch List the second I saw "Whale Trail" developer. I LOVE Whale Trail! This new game looks incredible. Such great design.

  • Scape3d

Wait, will this be iPad only or iPhone as well? PLEASE tell me this is for iPhone too.

OMG I love that isometric art style. This game had me within the first 2 seconds of seeing it.
Their are not many things in my life that TRULEY tickle my fancy, but this little beaut does.
That's what I love about the AppStore theirs always going to be something for someone.

  • Remote_

Beautiful looking game. Without wishing to compare it too much, it sort of has an isometric Fez look. And that's an *extremely* good thing.

Love the dev and can't wait for this.
