Unity-Technologies-Logo-ThumbnailIf you're a Unity developer, David Helgason and his crew of awesome guys at Unity have an early Christmas gift for you in the form of Unity 4.3. Like all previous releases, Unity has gotten incrementally better than it was before.

The main thing I'm seeing developers most excited about is the implementation of a dedicated 2D workflow which seems to be a massive improvement to the tricks needed to do 2D things in Unity before.

For the full change log, head over to the Unity web site. Alternatively, if you don't care about all that and just want to dive directly into downloading, you can do that too.

Unity was the one which was planning to add the ability for developers to use an iPhone's unused memory without the users knowledge, correct? Does this update implement that system, and is there any way to monitor how much memory a given app is using so we can at least guess at what apps are eating up excess memory (and battery) unnecessarily?

Brilliant. I like unity. I've been messing around with it for a bit. I like 2d games though and you had to play around before. You know out the camera a certain way etc etc. Well I'm hella interested in checkin out the newest update if it's all 2d.....

Holy sh**. A new mono develop? 2D stuff is cool but a new mono integrated into a release is almost unheard of.
