i-8M6P36FHey Tiny Tower [Free] fans, you better be sitting down for this: NimbleBit and Disney just announced the next game they're releasing. It's called Tiny Death Star, and from the looks of it, it's the awesome combination of Star Wars IP and Tiny Tower gameplay.

Live life on the dark side and join Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader on a mission to attract Galactic bitizens, run intergalactic businesses, and build an all-new Death Star. Construct unique Star Wars themed locations to attract iconic characters and species to your space station in this 8-bit style game

Sounds pretty radical to me, Tiny Death Star is "coming soon," which we're suspecting means very soon as Disney typically plays their App Store cards very close to their proverbial chest.

I think I need to change my pants.

  • DAN13LG

    Oh yeah!

  • CzechCongo

    Lol awesome

  • Leeabe51

Oh man, if they did a Star Wars Nimble Quest that would be amazing.

    • http://ask.fm/MidianGTX MidianGTX

Either that or exactly the same game with a Star Wars theme.

      • mclifford82

Don't worry, it'll happen. Disney is all about milking franchises.

    • phonecats

the devs of Call of Snake must be so sad thinking about this...

  • Zaraf

I really hope they have some decent "end game" in mind. Otherwise it will end up being the same old crap.

But this sounds like it will be awesome!

  • one.sixty.four

Lets hope nimblebit is behind the inevitable freemium aspects otherwise Disney might wreck it.

    • MrAlbum

      Wreck it like Wreck-it Ralph?

  • Bool Zero

Okay, I've avoid the other ones (just not a big fan) but I my have to dip my toe in the water for this one! The setting makes all the difference and if they utilize it well and treat it as more than just. Simple reskin, I can see this grabbing my attention more than the previous games have!

  • http://www.jeandenis.net/ Jean-Denis Haas

    Can't wait!

  • TrencH

Definitely added that to my watch list. Looking forward to playing that one.

  • Drewskii

How about Tiny Star Wars Quest?

    Nimble Quest...with Star Wars

  • cthibault

    Great news, good for Nimblebit!

  • armilla

I wonder what the next iOS game to merge with The Star Wars IP will be...

    • anabolicMike

Your am the Star Wars IAP

    • anabolicMike

      You mean Star Wars IAP

    • Bliquid

I'm betting on candy crush, or clash of clans, or any other that will take away the last bit of dignity from the saga.
I love Nimblebit, i really do, and i think it's gonna be great.
But the SW fanboy in me still suffers.

    • dariusjr98

Angry Birds Star Wars III, of course.

    • einexile

      Where's My Carbonite?

  • Moonbears

    Great news!!! Can't wait 😀

  • Jay G

*Checks the calendar to see if it is April - it's not.

  • jtfields

I've never played one of the Tiny Tower type of games. Are they really that fun?

    • hellscaretaker

Well yeah i say so, infact Tiny Towers was or is so popular, there are many a copy's some good some a clear rip off...who remembers the one by Zynga which has now been canned BTW.

    • mclifford82

No, they're not. This company has become one of the iOS darlings that always get talked about, but they're games are pretty much all the same.

    • Pray For Death

They barely count as games. More of a distraction really. If you enjoy seeing timers fill up, you're welcome to try them. They're free.

  • jamieladc

So Nimble Bit are sell outs then. Shame.

    • iPhallex

No, Disney is the one whoring out Star Wars licenses to whomever will pay for it.

      • mclifford82

While that's definitely true, Nimblebit are also completely unoriginal themselves. They're both milking their respective franchises.

    • RagerX

I'd like to see you turn down a chance to partner with Disney and a Star Wars offer! NimbleBit have done an amazing job as a tiny company. Congrats NimbleBit team!

  • RellekWVU

    This is gonna be awesome!

    • one.sixty.four

      • RagerX

  • Jake7905

Based on this, and Angry Birds, we should also soon be seeing 'Jedi Run', 'Empire Rush', 'Infinity Saber', 'ForceCraft', and maybe even 'Fruit Jedi'.

    • RagerX

Umm, where is Force Vs. Zombies?

    • saansilt

Infinity saber sounds kinda neat actually.

  • mutts

So Disney can do something usefull with StarWars 🙂

  • mutts

I see a pocket TieFighter, pocket Rebellion, tiny lightsabers and the list goes on 🙂

  • vicsark

    Wow O_o
The NimbleBit dudes have been busy for sure!
We thought they were only playing with trains lately, not lightsabers!

    • rewyan

Yes indeed. I'm not sure why they are releasing pocket trains and this close to each other. Im happy about it though, the more the merrier.

  • Nathaniel

    what does "8-bit" mean?

  • rewyan

NimbleBit and Disney. Complete opposites. I hope Disney isn't going to bully NimbleBit into being too tough with IAP.

I'm super excited for this. However, I'm also nervous about the Disney partnership thing.

    • Rivalsan

The partnership between Disney and Imangi for licensed Temple Run games has been pretty decent. This could be something like that.

  • kirby83

it refers to hardware of an older time. consoles used to be 8-bit (NES, MasterSystem) then 16-bit (SuperNes, SEGA Genesis also known as MegaDrive) then 32-bit (Playstation 1) etc...

most of the time, 8-bit means pixel art graphics.

  • D. Bida

Clearly in the minority here, but I feel it's just more of the same from NimbleBit.
    Pocket Planes=Pocket Trains
    Scoops=Sky Burger
    Tiny Tower=Tiny Death Star

Granted, they're free games. I respect the company for not taking freemium to a level of simply trying to rip people off. I just wish they'd get a little creative from time to time. I liked Nimble Quest so much cause it wasn't that Pocket Trains/Planes/Tiny Tower type game that I feel are all the same

    • Jake7905

I agree, though this is still better then making something like, "Sith Crush Saga".

    • Bliquid

Tbh, pocket trains and pocket planes look similar, and the concept is more or less the same, but they are very different in gameplay.
Actually, Trains HAS a gameplay, is not just a click all and come back like Planes or Tower.

  • ste86uk

I hope when they say soon it means next week. I know these aren't the best games in the world but I enjoy having a game like this to occupy me for minutes at a time when I just get a few minutes to fill instead of needing a while to play other games.

The Star Wars theme makes it better for me too, but I do always like to have a game on here like happy street too, one timer run game suits me.

  • JCat_NY

Wish this could have been a Star Wars rogue-like instead of a build a floor, come back later, build a floor, come back later game. I

  • Max C

Congratulations to Nimblebit for landing this prestigious IP. If ever there was a dev that did iap right then Nimblebit is the one, and I couldn't be happier that a dev with integrity is succeeding in this market.

  • Zenfar

This is so amazing!!! Thanks Disney!!! Thanks NimbleBit!!

I can barely breath I am so excited, like a force choke from a very small bitzen sized Darth Vader!

  • tacoprime

Most exciting thing I've ever read on touch arcade!

  • Brown Cow

It apparently means I'm now an old man. Thanks, kid.

  • TheRealRealBazz

  • ste86uk

    I can't find any release date : ( I hate being teased.

As for IAP I'm not worried as I wouldn't buy any for this type of game anyway as generally you don't need it unless your impatient.

  • wedge598

Very excited about this one. Pocket plane sand pocket trains have made me a big Nimblebit fan. And I've always been a huge Star Wars fan so this one is an instant download.

  • araczynski

Interesting, I found all their other stuff to be drivel at best, but this might be sugar coated drivel at least.

  • Alex

    IT'S A TRAP!

    • ludka33

      Best. Comment. Ever.

  • jForsythe

Now if only Kairosoft Co.,Ltd did something like this.

  • admo

Seems like the android version us out in Australia, so hopefully iOS is on the way.

  • dixie

I hope they release it in the US soon. Can not wait.

  • flyordiedays

Doesn't work on iPod? Is it ultimately going to?
