Angry Birds creator Rovio has been artfully carrying out a drip cycle of teaser information for their Angry Birds Star Wars mashup title ever since they announced it early last month. Take a quick visit to their YouTube channel and you can find over a half dozen extremely teaser-y videos showcasing the cast of Angry Birds as the various iconic Star Wars characters, and even inserting them into actual scenes from the films. The videos are cute and humorous, but aside from the briefest of glimpses in a video from last week I've really been anxious to see more of what you actually do in the game itself.

Rovio has basically blown the lid off of just that with their latest Angry Birds Star Wars trailer. It's almost a full minute of pure in-game action, and it looks awesome. Just as I suspected, it features a mixture of standard Angry Birds type levels as well as the gravity-slinging style ones found in Angry Birds Space. Star Wars takes place in space, you know, so that makes sense. The trailer also showcases some of the new moves your birdies will have, like using a lightsaber to swat shots back towards your enemies.

I really am excited to get my hands on Angry Birds Star Wars, as it looks to offer quite a few twists to the approximately one thousand Angry Birds games that came before it. Plus, I love me some Star Wars, and it seems like Rovio has used the IP to great effect here. Angry Birds Star Wars is set to launch November 8th, though Rovio doesn't typically follow the usual late Wednesday night release routine that most other developers do, so we'll be sure to let you know when it becomes available.

That looks like an instabuy to me! When this was first announced, I had hoped that Rovio had integrated things like force abilities to the game. Looks like they may have yet another winner on their hands!  :-)

  • xepiczx

    Hope it's universal!¡!¡

  • Duhbyo47

Please support widescreen, please be universal, please use iCloud. I will stop buying rovio games if they don't implement these features!

    • http://profiles.google.com/fleshman1992 Laszlo Tuss

Get up plz, you are dreaming awake again!

  • Bankai Forty-four

I'm guessing the Millennium Falcon is the "Mighty Eagle" for Angry Birds Star Wars...THAT' F**KIN' AWESOME!

  • betabetamax

Ugghhh. Your all making it worse. Can't believe anyone is into this drivel. Baby's first Star Wars game. Maybe next week well get Star Wars ABC 123 and cross our little fingers it has cloud support.

    • 1Fcm

I'm completely excited for it. Not all games can be for the hardcore audience. As a gamer, I can appreciate the game for what it is and try and find the positive. It may not be for you, just as SWTOR is not made for a casual audience. In the end I appreciate a little diversity. Is this the game I would have liked tied into the SW franchise... probably not, but I will definitely give it a shot. Although, it still remains to be seen if this will actually be good.

Lego Starwars is a great game for Star Wars fans, and all types of gamers. I nearly blew up my PSP playing the original trilogy. And Lego is, and will always be cute. Angry birds are just IMO obnoxious. They're like gamimg's Bratz. One last thing...I recently saw an Angry Birds board game in Target. At first I was like Dubyoo Tee Eff until I saw a Words with Friends board game. I mean, come on! Scrabble hasn't disappeared! /rant

      • MrAlbum

        Amen, brutha.

        (holds funeral service for Scrabble)

I certainly hope that Angry Birds board game involves one player setting up the pigs and their forts, and the other player using a catapult to try and knock it down. That would be awesome IMHO, if it works that way.

      • http://twitter.com/TouchedWieners Tyler Piderit

Yes! The board game should be no different than the mechanics from the mobile game. One person builds fort with pigs in it and cheats with super glue. Other play launches birds with real slingshot and cheats with handgun.

      • toxiccheese

What's really interesting is that Scrabble is a Hasbro property and WWF is just a direct copy of that game (with a tweaked board setup). But, Hasbro still picked up the games from Zynga and put out the board game versions. So basically they are putting out a game that they already own, only under a different name/brand... And they had to pay for it!

  • FuZion

I highly believe there'll still be 2 versions, but if the HD version at least isn't universal (Like World of Goo, iPhone or Univesal), then Rovio can kiss my money goodbye.

    • Professionalbum

Rovio hasn't so far with any of their titles released a universal-well in an Angry Birds sense.

  • NOEN

    Where's Yoda????

  • Professionalbum

Well I'll be buying both versions Thursday-take my money already. Thankfully Halo 4 will take up my time until.

  • araczynski

should be a fun time waster, eventually.

  • MarkyMarc

I'll be buying both versions Thursday assuming it's not universal. Looks good.

    • http://profiles.google.com/fleshman1992 Laszlo Tuss

Are you dump? It dont even have iCloud support....

      • rybred96

        1. That isn't even a real insult.
        2. Not everyone uses iCloud. I sure don't.

      • http://profiles.google.com/fleshman1992 Laszlo Tuss

So you like to pay twice for the exactly same content, and then play twice the exactly monotone gameplay?

      • http://twitter.com/VULTR3 Mike

Some people play this game's levels over and over... I've seen it. Don't sound too surprised, that's the reason why it rakes in the dough, and this big license.

      • http://profiles.google.com/fleshman1992 Laszlo Tuss

thats one thing, but ripping off people and leave the separate versions without cloud support is disgusting...
        I am sick of Rovio...

      • MarkyMarc

I don't mind paying twice to support a good game. Most all of my gaming is done on the iPad. However, I will play on my iPhone if waiting at the doctor's office and such. And the gameplay itself looks excellent. On another note, I'd bet at least half of those who say they're sick of Angry Birds will end up downloading this at some point. :)

      • http://profiles.google.com/fleshman1992 Laszlo Tuss

I like to support good games also, but this isnt it.
Rovio is a rip off company, they dont give a damn about users, they just want to milk as with the least work...

      • Chefbot

Watch out guys, we got an angry bird over here!

Let's be serious, if you don't like Rovio, then why do you take the effort to post comments bashing them? No offense, but that doesn't seem very productive. Why not take up woodworking? Who knows, you'll make something great.

      • Respox

Right on! Companies like Rovio and Zynga are a blight on the gaming industry. While real developers bust their butts to make real games, they just release IAP traps one after the other for the casual morons to throw money at, without even realizing how they're being fleeced.

      • Chefbot

        "Casual morons"

Really? Really? That's some fuk_kkkasuals.txt stuff right there.

  • JesusBro

will this game have the mighty eagle?
and i mean like can we use the mighty eagle as many times as we want like the old angry birds games? and not like angry birds space where you have to buy them?

    • 1Fcm

The Millenium Falcon will take the place of the Mighty Eagle.

  • Castleman711

    Looks amazing!

  • lr1919

Oh look, a reskinned Angry Birds, with a Star Wars cash-in.

    AWESOME!

    • http://twitter.com/DotComCTO DotComCTO

Incorrect. Rovio looks like they've thought through how to use things like light sabers and force powers in the game. A re-skin of Angry Birds would/will flop, but this is something that is built on top of that game. Get the difference?

  • ImJPaul

    Gnar gnar.

    • MrAlbum

OMG that better be one of those pigs!

(shreds picture of Jar Jar from Phantom Menace)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-D-Dunn/679068624 James D. Dunn

When I first heard about this game I was afraid it was just going to be a re-skin off the 1st game with SW stuff.
This video took my preconceptions and blew them out of the water. Way to innovate Rovio! I will be getting the HD version. I won't pay twice for the same game.
Cheers and looking forward to playing it!

I really like how they blended both the original and Space gameplay styles as well as adding additional mechanics such as having control over ALL the birds in addition to flinging them. Originally, the red birds could only be tossed and that's it. Now they are all Luke Skywalker with a lightsaber. Also, I noticed environmental hazards and pigs that fight back using blasters. I find this to be the coolest in the series yet because of all this.

I hope the boss fights from Space are also present as well.
