Joystiq just posted a brand new gameplay video of the upcoming Infinity Blade Dungeons. If Diablo III has you itchin' for some similar dungeon crawling action on the iPad, you'll want to watch this video right now:

Also in the video is a curious looking blacksmithing mini game, and if you watch what seems to be a boss fight of some kind towards the end you'll notice what looks like a gesture-based attack to throw your weapon around. Unfortunately, no other details are available just yet, but I've got a good feeling about this. Something tells me if videos like this are dribbling out, we might be closer to a release than we may realize. (Or, at least, that's what I want to believe.)

Update: IGN has a brief hands-on and some screenshots:

  • Drexiel Tempest

    this looks awesome =O

  • NotYou

    Yes, please.

  • brando

I will buy this immediately. Damn that looks sweet.

  • KenGriffeyIII

    I need this

  • coconuthorsey

    I want!

  • Vtec51O

Diablo 3 totally has me in a looty dungeon crawly mood. Getting me more and more stoked for this game.

  • UnSurreal

Will this be playable on Ipad 2?

    • famousringo

Oh yeah, I'm sure it will be. iPad 2 will probably be the target platform while iPad 3 offers the same graphics at 1.4 times native resolution.

  • regkilla

    only for iPad?

  • peon2000

This is looking really good and I don't think I'll have to worry about a persistent internet connection just so I can play single player!

    • KenGriffeyIII

I thought the same thing and then I remembered losing my IB2 save shortly after launch. I'm not sure which is worse.

  • Laszlo Tuss

Is that Diablo for iPad? :'D Cool

Anyway, will we see the titans from Infinity Blade in this game? That would be cool 🙂

    • Cat Astrophy

There are already several "Diablo" games for iOS.

      • Laszlo Tuss

        i don't talk about crap

    • NPeart

I think its more like Diablo looking beat em' up.

  • Vladimir Kotelnikov

Sadly I remember those days when games were something more than just a stupid hack and slash in a beautiful shell ;(

    • AcneVulgaris

You gotta play to your market...

    • frankwrang

You mean Diablo 1 & 2, or maybe Dungeon Siege 1 & 2? Those days?

      • Vladimir Kotelnikov

I grew up on Sierra and Lucas Art quests 😉

      • AcneVulgaris

How beautiful King's Quest was!  It blew away Scott Adams Adventure graphically.

  • Micah Peterson

    Must have now.

  • speeed

  • Armaan Khan

I'm glad they're implementing controls suited to the touch screen instead of a virtual stick/button setup.

Kinda sad to see them leave behind the Punch Out-style fighting of the first two Infinity Blades, but I suppose IB2 was the best that style of gameplay could possibly get.

    • Cat Astrophy

There's no reason they couldn't come back. If they intended to "leave behind" the previous system for good they would have just called this new game IB3.

    • Jin Jinathin Tonic

No no no.. Sir, we do not want swipe/tapping controls for this game.
Dungeon crawler games is supposed to be with buttons and virtual sticks..
Not stupid ass tap to move and swipe to attack..

      • fr33z33

Dungeon crawlers are supposed to be with buttons and virtual stick ... as in ... Diablo 1,2,3?!?

    • darkcrayon

This is made by a different team, not Chair like the first two Infinity Blades.  And notice this is Infinity Blade: Dungeons, not "Infinity Blade III" which, if they make it, could still be more along the lines of the first two games.

  • Broli95

Damn, no release date yet :(, hope it comes out soon

  • SoyGreen

This looks to be what Dungeon Hunter 3 shoulda been...

    • AcneVulgaris

Not to worry, no doubt Gameloft is already figuring out how closely they can rip it off without getting sued.

  • Dag

Is this an on rails type game like there last two or is it more in the vain of diablo with exploration?

  • Arch Deluxe

Looks like Golden Axe with better graphics but minus the charm.

  • Cat Astrophy

man 2012 is THE year of the ARPG

    Path of Exile
    Grim Dawn
    IB Dungeons

then if you don't mind the action being an FPS you have Borderlands 2

  • Jin Jinathin Tonic

This game.. Controls just makes me sad..
Why can't we have just Damm virtual sticks and buttons on the screen instead of swipe to attack and tap to move?... ):

    • darkcrayon

If the attacks go in the direction of the swipes, i'd much prefer that to just mashing a virtual button.  For general movement I'd prefer a virtual stick though.

  • Justin Somers

Looks like I"ll be playing this until (or if) Diablo 3 comes out for the consoles!

  • Jay

    Please don't be $15+!

    • Sunshoopa

Actually, I hope it is $15+. Means it will be a higher quality game.

      • Jay

I saw a $30 flashlight app recently. Explain that one 😉

      • Jin Jinathin Tonic

Swipe/touch control game for $15? You must be joking
Unless this uses virtual sticks and buttons, this game should never be anything higer than $7

      • darkcrayon

I don't understand the comparison.  If you use touch to control a game it must be very inexpensive?

      •!/Retronaut42 Retronaut42

I would think that implementing a virtual joystick and buttons in the game would be cheaper in the development process, thus making the game cheaper. If anything, the control scheme that they're going with should make the game more expensive upon release.

I honestly don't see the problem with their control scheme, it is better suited for a touch screen, and far more creative.

      • MrNagasaki

Touching and swiping the screen means your fingers all over the iPad, which means you can barely see what your doing because your fingers are all over the place. Virtual joysticks are usually at the side = full view of the action

  • nam009

Wow ! I just cant plz just announce the release date !!

  • byrd424

Looks do good and I'll play 15 plus if as good as the first 2 infinity blades

  • Jyaif

The weapon crafting part is one of the saddest game mechanism ever. It does not bode well for the rest of the game.

  • Jericho Payabyab Magno

please release this on ps vita.

    • Jin Jinathin Tonic

I hope so but yeah this is iOS exclusive, so it won't happen

  • blackharon

I'll be picking it up just so I can kill that Polar bear!

  • xxteargodxx

I can only pray this comes to the iPhone 🙁

  • k1lljoy_89

Here comes an understatement: Looks cool!

  • Vince

Looks like the biggest enemy in the game will be the auto focus/follow camera >.>

  • apolloa

WOW!!! I need the next iPhone  and this NOW! It looks very good and glad to see them moving away from the current formula of gameplay.

  • Crunchewy

Well, this sure looks a lot more fun than Infinity Blade, which is a game I really don't get the appeal of.

  • Kevin Choi

cool you put the blade into the forge and hammer comes out =O

  • Jlugo94

If this game has multiplayer i might just sneeze...

  • tone7888

Just give me a release date!

  • Michael A. Robson

Thank God for Chaos Rings 2...

  • Michael Matzat

How let down everyone will be once they realise that cloneing diablo is something only blizzard can do.

  • ImJPaul

If I can't play this on my iPhone 4 I will cry for a week straight. Then probably go out and buy an iPad.
