We were lucky enough to piggy back on the back of the tiny press event at GDC for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, which is this really fabulous remake with a conglomeration of content from the first two Tony Hawk Pro Skater games set to be released sometime this summer as a downloadable title for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Jared and I are massive fans of both Tony Hawk and the Tony Hawk series of games, so we totally fanned out. How hard did we fan out? This hard:

We had a great chat with Tony, and learned that it was actually him that pushed through the iOS port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 [$1.99] after seeing the original fan video we posted which turned out to be totally real. He's really excited to potentially see the rest of the Tony Hawk series on iOS devices, but openly admits that at the end of the day it all comes down to Activision. With the success Sega saw with the similar fan-made Sonic CD [$4.99] we're hoping Activision wakes up and smells the coffee sooner or later that there's a whole group of gamers out there hungry for these classic THPS games on our iPhones.

And if Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD ever got ported? Jared and I would be in heaven.

We already got an Answer about that topic from "The Boss"
    Bobby Kotick himself:

Activision-Blizzard does not focus on mobile platforms because of the limits they place on the customer experience.

If I may translate that into something we all do understand it would be similar to this:

We can`t squish enough Money out of the Android/iOS Community so therefor we won`t even try and keep instead porting shitty Ports of our loved Franchise like Call of Duty Zombie or similar Franchise by using some the old Engines from the 90's.

Don`t get me wrong. I love Tony Hawk and his Games but we won`t see a real Android/iOS Tony Hawk's Game for the iOS ever if Mister Kotick won`t get down from his Horse.

Sure those Ports are also great but...havn`t lately Epic Games & Rovio clearly shown how much Money can be made if they just don`t publish/port some Garbage?

    You lucky bastards.

Maybe he could push through an update for THPS2 so it actually works on iOS 5. I contacted Activision's utterly incompetent support people about this, and it took about six weeks just to get them to admit it's their game that doesn't work, not my device. They said the developers are "looking into the issue", but never actually committed to releasing an update. The game's sound effects don't work at all, and there are several crashers that prevent you from actually playing through the whole game — that is, if you even wanted to bother doing that, with no sound (it matters because there are areas in which sound cues tell you where to go, like the ringing bells in the School level that you need to find).

Long story short: Activision sucks pretty bad. I wouldn't get your hopes up about seeing any other THPS games for iOS, or even seeing the current one ever get fixed.

While you are playing a level, press the power button to lock your device. When you unlock it, the sound fx will be back. Not just during that level but as long as you are playing.

         Unbelieveble! It works! :)

Great tip! It works. Game still isn't fully playable though, as the Bullring level will still crash on load.

stormchild: Excellent post, this nail perfectly what I've went throught with this game. Their tech support is pretty clueless, I find it insulting that they even suggest that I should check the volume levels on my device...
