'Angry Birds' Status Report: New St. Patrick's Day Update and More
posted March 8th, 2011 3:07 PM EDT by Eli Hodapp in Games, iPad Games, iPhone games, iPod touch games, NewsEven though Tiny Wings recently elbowed Angry Birds out of their top slot on the App Store sales and grossing charts, it's crazy thinking how huge Angry Birds is, and how the game's popularity is growing at an alarming rate. Hell, I was doing some shopping to prepare for GDC and noticed an entire Angry Birds line of shirts being sold at Hot Topic. Today? They're all sold out. Regardless of how you feel about the actual Angry Birds game, it is pretty awesome to have something like it that is bringing smartphone gaming to such a massive mainstream audience.
Anyway, an update for Angry Birds Seasons [99¢ / Free / HD] is on its way for St. Patrick's Day. A video was recently released of some of the new levels, including... pigs in top hats. Check it out:
In other news, Rovio apparently has partnered with Microsoft to use Angry Birds to promote Bing with a series of silly videos featuring the pigs using Windows Phone 7 devices:
I'm not sure this is going to get me to start using Bing over Google, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love the various animated shorts that Rovio has released of the Angry Birds pigs and birds.
