Atari Bringing 'Centipede' to iPhone
posted November 25th, 2008 5:40 PM CST by arn in Upcoming Games
Forum user rootbeersoup noticed that Atari had added Centipede on a "More Games" promo screen in the latest version of Missile Command [App Store, $4.99].
The arcade classic of Centipede would be a welcome addition to the iPhone. Atari's modern revamp of Missile Command was well received amongst our readers.

Yeah it looks like they will probably port most of their games over. I predict the next one to be similar to the Asteroids version on the PSP game "Atari Classics Evolved"
They will probably port most of the games on there, in fact.

boring… don't get me wrong, i was born playing atari 2600 (well actually i was 2 when i started playing) but these games simply don't cut… atari charges too much for a "classic" (aka retro) game that if you are REALLY willing to play them, you should stick with a compilation of good ol'classic games (available to almost every gaming platform) and even emulators.
i still have my atari and whenever i want to relive some classics for nostalgia purpose, i hook it up on my telly and bam, nostalgia all over. but playing 'em on my iphone? no thanks.

Ahiru, these aren't ports of the Atari 2600 games. Atari made arcade games too (and still does). You must be a youngster if you think these are nostalgia for the 2600, they were arcade hits before hitting the home platform.
Bring 'em on.

I remember buying this game and looking through the cover art and reading the story as well as running to my room to play it. It wasn't new at the time I bought it unopened!
