If I'm gonna go with the hour system, well MC3 is definitely a winner, says I've been online for 57 hours...
yeah, mine is also a combination of the first two... I really don't care what games were most popular... But games that I ended up spending the most time with, and were incredibly fun, while pretty much being blown away by the developer's (team of developers...) talents is how I'm trying to make up my list... =oP

Knighturn... It's too early for me to formally nominate but if you at all like strategy games check out Knighturn; there's a free lite version. It is an amazing but often overlooked game good enough to warrant GOTY consideration.
Here are TouchArcade's very own "Best of" monthly picks for the year. Feel free to peruse to remind yourself. These will by no means contain a definitive list (knowing TA you should have guessed that already) but it's a good place to start. And that's it so far for this year! For the really dedicated, here's an AppShopper link showing the "popular" new releases currently starting from January 2011. Of course the page will shift as new games are added, but it's approximate for the most part anyway. http://appshopper.com/games/new/122 122 pages, have fun!
gg all other games. probably. Maybe. We'll see, but I have some seriously high expectations for that game...
Street fighter volt! Lots of replayability and shenannigans. Lots of different ways to attack and 22 characters.
Seriously, how can someone not like Junk Jack? IT'S the best game ever made for iOS! And it's better than original minecraft too! It feels more portable, but it's my opinion! Not judging anyone! :O
That's a huge statement considering there are thousands of games that could possibly be the best game ever made for iOS... +It's not everyone's cup of tea.
Good luck choosing one game from all these games.... Well that still leaves 60+ other games and there's alot better games to choose from then last year, some are longshots but I could probly make a logical argument for why 20 of those games deserve goty. Plus I left out alot of games... Picking game of the month is hard enough, heck Chillingo release 2 games a week...
While Shadowgun, MC3, and all of the other titles that try to emulate console games are impressive, and they really show what the device is capable of graphics-wise, I believe Battleheart, Infinity Blade 2, Drawrace 2, and other games in that vein should win GOTY, as Infinity Blade 1 and Cut the Rope did last year. While I love an ambitious pocket-sized TPS, FPS, or RPG as much as the next guy, they can't hold a candle to their console inspirations. I'm now a PS3 owner (the reason I've posted less frequently lately), and I firmly believe that $6.99 mobile "console-quality" games will never be "console quality". The App Store will never be that sort of market, (due to rock-bottom prices, lack of big company developer support *cough* *Capcom*, etc.) and I don't think it has to be. Games that use gameplay that "feels" right on a touch screen are, in general, some of the most successful ones on the charts, and they are what makes the iOS platform unique. I'm certainly not the first one to say these things, but purchasing a console really opened my eyes. To wrap things up, I'll keep it simple. It's cool to have good-looking third-person shooters on a mobile platform for low prices, but they are NOT console-quality. My nominations for iOS GOTY are Infinity Blade 2, Drawrace and Battleheart, simply because they offer incredible experiences that a console or PC can't.
Dead Space released in 2011? If Dead Space came out in 2011, it should be iOS Game Of The Year. Not only did it have graphics comparable to Xbox 360 and PS3, It was an overall technically competent game. The story and single player campaign were well thought out and developed. I didn't find any bugs, not saying it didn't have any but I found none. The music queues played when they were supposed to. I really don't know what else to say about this game. It was produced and planned out as a game should be. Indie or non indie. I don't believe just because It wasn't made by an indie developer, it should be ruled out. Someone back me up on this, This game was well produced and it was one of the few games that gave me a true console-like experience. I could have easily seen myself playing it on Xbox 360. It should be in the gaming industries overall game of the year category up against Gears Of War 3, Drakes Deception, Skyrim and Zelda. That being said, 2011 was an amazing year of iPhone Gaming. I can't wait to see what 2012 has to offer.
