Highly recommened for fans of the genre. Is it a large non-linear world ? You dont have to do missions in order ? Is there one 'main' mission and then lots of smaller side ones ? I didnt find the video that useful as there were constant fights and not enough seeing the main character move around in the world/villages etc. Do attacks happen randomly or are there monsters you can see (so you can try to avoid). Just thinking of Ultima where you would see the enemy and try to avoid them Sorry for all the questions, hope its a huge non-linear world fuzzyprofessorhead Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2011 77 0 0 San Francisco http://www.puppysaurus.com #9 fuzzyprofessorhead, Aug 24, 2011 The world is very large, mostly linear. You CAN go off the beaten path, but you might encounter way powerful monsters you're not ready for... It's random encounters. They're full on retro here. Also, to the poster who asked about playtime, I'm not the best person to ask -- as a tester I stopped/restarted a lot so it's hard for me to tell. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,971 722 113 England #10 psj3809, Aug 24, 2011 Thanks, still sounds good. Was hoping for a huge non-linear world but it still sounds (and looks) great. I'll be buying this at midnight tonight c.ihls Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2009 291 1 0 #11 c.ihls, Aug 24, 2011 Okay - insta-buy tonight Yay! [Also hoping to see RPG Quest - Minimae 2 sometime soon] I'm also wishing for a non-linear open world JRPG on iOS. It's cool to see alternative developer leaving helpful impressions; good luck with the release of Puppysauraus today! Now to answer some questions... It's a very old school style RPG so mostly linear. You don't have to follow the path but there is a single progressing storyline that leads to the ending. Gameplay length is in the 6-10 hour range depending on how quickly you try to push through. We're planning on adding side stories in future updates to add even more play time and better expand the world. As for a map...well... It's too big to embed Flynn Taggart Well-Known Member Dec 9, 2010 80 0 0 #16 Flynn Taggart, Aug 24, 2011 Instabuy. And I just grabbed guardian saga as well, now two old school rpg's at once. wswing Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2009 56 0 0 Professor #17 wswing, Aug 25, 2011 Kaizoku Volcano... really? It's on my list to buy. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,486 2 36 Houston, TX #19 undeadcow, Aug 25, 2011 Buying Dragon Fantasy irregardless but as a random aside it's curious that developers can make massive open world RPGs with cutting edge 3D graphics like Aralon or today's Earth and Legend but no one has yet made an iOS massive open word 2D "retro" RPG. Good by-gone non-iOS examples of this are... Final Fantasy 6 which excelled in part due to the vast open world exploration and huge party collection; similar for the golden Ultima IV: Quest for the Avatar [NES]. Thanks for tolerating the off topic rant. Now... to... wait... for... Dragon Fantasy... 2 hours... back to playing Sword & Earrings for now.
