If you happen to be one of the millions of people who forked out to be a Call of Duty Elite founder because of how cool the thought of changing out your weapon load-outs on the fly on your phone was, here’s your chance to finally do it. The Call of Duty Elite App [Free] launched overnight, and even though it’s missing a few features, I already like it better than the actual Call of Duty Elite web site. Admittedly, a lot of that has to do with the novelty of the whole thing, but still.
As mentioned in our post yesterday, Activision looks at this as a foundation for things to come later. I hope they eventually include the heat maps functionality, as that’s the only thing I use which isn’t in the app yet. Regardless, I really am digging these official companion apps, and hope this trend continues.
No link to the iTunes store to download? Also, this game is iCade compatible -- which is how I plan on playing this. Should help with the control issue you mentioned in your review.
Seems kinda like a low score for a pretty positive review.
This got the same amount of stars as that pos block breaking game. Obviously the substance is in the reviews but some people really do go by stars alone. This is a 4.5 game if you ask me. There needs to be some consistency when giving out the stars IMO.
Still a good, if not, wordy review of the game. The 3 stars just don't do it justice.
that's a flaw I generally find in TA reviews.... often they go on glorifying a game in the review, then suddenly you'll see it just got a 3. I generally don't trust numbered scores (I'm looking at you Metacritic) and just read reviews and impressions then decide for myself.
Maybe they're just too generous in giving stars? I've barely seen anything below 3 stars here... but, if you do go by the star standards, then all of them more or less deserve those scores anyways, since mostly only fart apps and that sort of crap warrant 1-2 stars. meh.
3 stars? This is a 5 star game for me and my favourite iOS platformer by some distance. Do yourself a favour if you are on the fence because of this strangely low score - just buy the game. You won't regret it.
This review is spot on and so is the grade. This game is getting over hyped in the forums but it really is very ordinary. I don't mean to disparage people that like it though. I just agree with the reviewer.
If anyone knows hype, it's Toucharcade.
Maybe it's just, me, but the thing that made this game less enjoyable for me was the fact that there's never any emergence of the story we get at the beginning. We never meet any other characters besides or flying pet thingie, and there doesn't seem to be any build-up to the big-boss guy were supposed to be making our way towards. I just don't really play as much because I know I won't see anything new the next time.
I got it because it supports iCade, and I’m not sorry! It’s fun. For aiming/shooting, I greatly prefer the touch method—which still works just fine during an iCade session.
One pet peeve I have with this and many other pixel-art games: the pixels are blurry and not soft. You can’t tell from small screenshots. I love the look of perfect sharp pixels, whether doubled or single, and am disappointed when they’re soft. (Although if a CRT-filter is added, I kind of like that look too.) No biggie, just a personal preference.
Like someone has already mentioned, I find it hard to believe that this game got the same score and on the same posted day as Transformoid. I have both games and I would give Transformoid a generous score of 1 and Terra Noctis a perhaps stingy 4. Both are generally polished (Transformoid is more so), but Terra Noctis is eminently playable and fun. Please do not write this game off because of one lukewarm review; consider many other positive reviews and the raves in the forum posts here.
I guess I will take the Touch Arcade reviews with several grains of salt now.
Not to mention the game is $1.....
I think that the reviewer meant "shooting things in the knee"
Loved it, it's like i'm controlling a pet that was raised by Mario and Rayman!
