‘Plumeboom’ Franchise Coming to iPhone

As IGN reports, game developer Fireglow Games is partnering with Mac games publisher Virtual Programming to bring the Plumeboom franchise to various mobile platforms including the iPhone and iPod touch.

Three specific titles that will arrive for the iPhone are Plumeboom The First Chapter, The Golden Path of Plumeboom, and A-B-O-O – Plumeboom’s Friends.  The Plumeboom games are color-based puzzlers of the “match-three" sort, each with a different style of gameplay.

Fireglow sets the story for Plumeboom The First Chapter,

Orniland is a paradise for birds. Thousands live here in peace and harmony. But two villains, Crowbeak the Wizard and his servant, Cornix the Scientist, seek to undo the tranquility of the land through darkness… with an evil potion that they spread across the country using conveyors. The potion turns birds into Warriors of Darkness serving the villains. Only Plumeboom the Peacock can destroy the system of conveyors and save Orniland! Help him in his mission!

No solid date has been given for Plumeboom‘s arrival in the App Store.  A taste for the gameplay of The First Chapter can be seen in a demo video of the PC version.

Good move, if a bit in the wrong order. I think the demo will garner you some more sales. I already bought it at $5, but I'd probably have bought it at $10 if there had been a demo. As it was I could only guess as to whether or not it was worth $10, and I guessed that it wasn't. I was wrong, but that didn't earn you 5 more dollars.

Yeah, I was one of those people waiting for the price to drop, as I didn't want to pay that much without testing it out first. Now that I have, I would have gladly payed the $10. At $5, the full version's more than worth it!!

Well, for the $5 discount - maybe you can make sure all your friends buy it too ;)

I'm making a big effort to quickly increase the size of the multi-player game. Right now there are around 30 people playing all the time, but if it gets up to .. say .. 100 people playing all the time, I'll be able to add a lot of great features - like better match-ups, friends list, and private rooms, etc.

    Thanks!

I absolutely love Galcon. Its interface if perfect for the iPhone, its fast fun and actually requires skill and strategy. When I first bought it for $10 (after a lot of hesitation due to the general poor quality of a lot of early iPhone games) I thought "Damn, id love to play this against other people" and low and behold, now I can, and life is good.

I think between the price drop (seriously $10 is cheap for how much fun this game is but people seem to balk at anything over free when it comes to the app store) and the demo where hordes of new people can think "damn, this would be fun with multiplayer", Galcon will be seeing a huge popularity boost.

I work on iPhone games and everyone I work with plays LAN games of Galcon. As a bunch of gamers its the perfect game to pick up and play for a few rounds here and there that actually gives us a way to challenge each other.

    @Finch

Please do help get the word out :) I'm a bit brain-dead on the marketing side of things, so until I gather some smarts, I'm depending on word-of-mouth to get noticed :)

I also purchased this at 10 bucks, right before Sound was added...and have been horribly addicted to it ever since...the multiplayer part is amazing

i've even gotten a few friends addicted

i would love to see add ons such as those on the pc/mac version, or the ability to play against a variable [3+ way] game

I also purchased this (at $10) right before the price dropped to $5, and I'm fine with that. Now that the game has dropped to $5, I've been able to encourage a couple of my friends to buy it so that we can all use the multiplayer option together.

In his previous post in this thread, Phil just pointed out one of the options that I would really like to see: It would be great if we could have private rooms and a friends list. In my case, I think the private room would be the more immediately useful option. Anyway, great game and a lot of fun to play (I enjoyed the addition of the music to the game).

    Hi Phil,

When I worked in games dev, we used to have the odd Galcon match during compile times. It's even better on the iPhone and I've been evangelising it to everyone I know who has one. If you're thinking of advertising, have you thought about getting facebook ads? I don't know if you can target them only to iPhone owners or not, but if you can, that would definitely get you a few more hits...

Wow, the developer's here! Please let us know how the price drop works out for you. I know that there are tons of apps I'd buy at $5 that I wouldn't at $10.

I'm sure I don't speak for everyone, but I'd personally be fascinated to hear how that experiment works for you.

To follow up: I tried the lite version and in no time at all I went and bought the full version. A great implementation. The $5 price helped a lot too. I like it even better than on the desktop!

    Hey Phil,

Just wanted to say I really love the game. I also waited for the price drop, and I can assume your multiplayer numbers will more than double as more people try out your software at the updated price.

    A few questions:

Are you going to be making any other games in the foreseeable future? If you add a friends list and all that, can you do something similar to what Nintendo did and make it so you can play people based on your skill level? I'm alright at the game, beat the 1p part, but honestly I get my ass kicked in seconds by some people and would be nice to know what I'm up against before I enter a game.

Anyway, multiplayer is really appreciated and makes the game SO much more enjoyable. Thanks for your continued support and thanks for listening to your customers.
