Canabalt [2.99] is getting online leaderboards and some additional obstacles in the not too distant future. We were recently given a sneak peek and shot some video of the new update which hopefully will be released any time now:
The new obstacles include a mangled billboards to run across, and a mysteriously massive object that rips apart an entire building which can be seen at the end of the above video. This new huge space-craft (if that is what it is) crashing in to your path has never failed at ending even my best runs since getting the update. Touch Pets Dogs [Free] also has an update in the works that will be released very soon to add some holiday themed items as well as significantly changing the balancing of the food system.
Previously, Touch Pets worked a lot like an arcade game in that you needed to be constantly feeding small amounts of money in to it in order to play the game. With the food system retuned, players will get a full food bowl recharge every 15 minutes, putting the focus less on buying food to play the game and more on buying food if you want to trade food for in-game puppy bucks to outfit your dog faster. This aims at making the game play much more like Eliminate [Free] which recently saw energy recharge rates significantly reduced to facilitate similar “pay more if you really want to upgrade quickly" gameplay.

Great, I can play Touch Pets now. As it was, I couldn't. I would have bought a full version at $9.99 buy constantly feeding it money wasn't something I was comfortable with so I Bligh absolutely no food at all.
NGMOCO: please give us some offline mode for these games! For iPod touch users. We can sync up when back on WiFi, but Touch Pets is great for kids. Kids don't have iPhones on contracts with data access. They have iPod Touches. No data connection.
I'm glad they're changing the food system. The old way was such a joke...

That would be pretty cool. Might be kind of hard to implement though if they change often, but I'm no programmer. Even if they just said Semisecret or something, that'd be fine with me, better than it being blank.
With the online l leaderboard, Canabalt becomes perfect to me!

This game gets such a bad rap because of pricing, but imo a game can be as simple as [insert analogy here], if it has that 'more' factor then it's already more than payed for itself. Canabalt is one of my faves: )
I don't want to update Canabalt if it gets more difficult! It's already frustrating since I can't beat my old records :D Is there an option to play without that huge space-craft obstacle?
I am offended that the puppy has dreidels on its butt. Maybe their next version will have mini crosses for Easter.

Oh man, can't wait for the Canabalt update. This game is one of the more addicting games in my (too large) library. Online leaderboards are great and it'll be good to see some more variety in the scenery.
Great Canabalt update! Now if the billboards could just display some old posters... The current look is a bit too plain for my taste... The leaderboard option suggested by Yao MUNG would also be a nice option.
Totally agree with you about the billboards. The environment would look much more convincingly urban if there were adverts on them. It's a missed opportunity to add some humour with parodies of futuristic advertising eg Clones R Us / Enjoy Uranus - offworld resort now open / BetterEyes - we only do eyes - 3 for the price of 2 offer.
Or they could use the billboards to get revenue from real advertisers and then reduce the price of game.
