It was back in November that Playdigious announced they were teaming up with Shiro Games to bring one of their PC and console titles to mobile, following their previous partnership that brought Evoland 1 and 2 to mobile a few years back. This time around Playdigious would be adapting Shiro’s critically-acclaimed real-time strategy title Northgard, and as we learned last month the game will be launching on iOS on April 13th with an Android version planned for down the road. Of course, being Playdigious, they don’t just pluck a game from another platform and plop it down on mobile and call it a day. Instead they truly take the time to adapt the game from console and/or PC and make it work really well on mobile, not just interface-wise with the touchscreen but the overall experience as well. Over the past couple of weeks Playdigious has released some excellent developer diary videos that discuss aspects of this porting process, with the third and final video being released today. Each video is less than 3 minutes long but still conveys just how passionate and careful everyone involved in the process is, and they’re very much worth your time to check out. Here’s all three.
Man, I am getting pretty excited! Northgard on mobile looks excellent. In case you were unaware or just haven’t done so already, you can pre-order the iOS version of Northgard on the App Store right now for $7.99, a discount of 10% off its regular price of $8.99. Playdigious has also revealed their intended roadmap for releasing the various DLC bundles for the game. Basically there will be 2 bundles with 3 DLC packs in each. The Scale Bundle will launch alongside the game on April 13th and include the Snake DLC, the Kraken DLC, and the Dragon DLC. Then in Q3 of this year the Fur Bundle will release and include the Ox DLC, Horse DLC, and Lynx DLC. It looks like if you buy each DLC individually they’ll be $2.99 apiece, or you can grab the bundle for $6.99. In addition, the Snake DLC will be available for free during the first week of the game’s launch, from April 13th to April 20th, so you can get a taste of what the DLC will offer. It’s all very exciting so be sure to check the videos above and get your pre-orders in ahead of Northgard’s iOS launch next month.
