Blizzard’s BlizzConline aired over the weekend with announcements across Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and more. The highlights for Hearthstone are a new mode and expansion that were both revealed with a lot planned for the Year of the Gryphon in Hearthstone. Hearthstone Mercenaries is a new single player mode for Hearthstone that has players form teams including heroes and villains to take on a series of tactical battles. This new roguelike mode goes live later in the year. The Forged in the Barrens expansion brings 135 new cards, new keywords, game mechanics, and more. There will also be 10 new Legendary minions with one per class with some stories for the minions playing out through the year. The Hearthstone Forged in the Barrens expansion goes live later in the year. Check out the announcement trailer for it below:
The Hearthstone Forged in the Barrens expansion can be purchased now in two bundles. The Hearthstone Forged in the Barrens Mega Bundle is priced at $79.99 and it includes 85 card packs (with five golden packs), two random Golden Legendary cards, the Hamuul Runetotem card back, alternate Hero, perks for Battlegrounds until the next expansion. There is also a $49.99 bundle with 60 packs, two random Legendary cards, and the Hamuul Runetotem card back. Pre-orders are live in-game on mobile and on Battle.net. As revealed before, the Core Set & Classic Format for Hearthstone are coming soon when the Year of the Gryphon launches. Details for those modes are here. While I’m very excited for Classic Mode, the new Hearthstone Mercenaries mode is definitely one of the more interesting additions coming to the game. Do you still play Hearthstone often and are you looking forward to playing the game as it was in 2014 and the upcoming expansion?
