It has been a tumultuous road for Forager on iOS, to say the least. Following its hugely successful outings on PC and console, developer HopFrog announced as a part of the game’s 1st birthday back in April that an iOS version of Forager was in the works, and like on those other platforms it would be published by Humble Games. A couple of months later we learned that the iOS version would launch with all of the additional content that had been added to other versions of the game, and then at the beginning of September Humble sent us an email newsletter announcing the iOS version’s release date as September 24th. However, the night before that date, mere hours before the game was to launch on iOS, Humble sent us another email stating that “Forager’s mobile release has been pushed to 2021." Man, what a bummer!
Well, I don’t know what wires were crossed between Humble’s PR, HopFrog, and whoever is doing the iOS version, but it turns out Forager on iOS is NOT delayed until 2021 and in fact it is available right this second. This is my favorite emoticon in general, but it also seems entirely apt for this whole situation: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Whatever the case may be with the delays, un-delays, and what have you, Forager is a bad ass game that should be a perfect fit on mobile. It has a bit of the farming and crafting elements of Stardew Valley, the exploration aspects of something like Minecraft, the action elements of Terraria, and it’s all wrapped up in a progression system that feels ripped out of an idle clicker, making it an incredibly hard game to ever put down as you go for “just one more" level up, or one more unlocked item, or one more… whatever! Unlike your typical mobile idle game though, Forager is a fully premium experience that’ll set you back just $8 on iOS, which is less than half the price it typically goes for on other platforms. So if you like any of the game’s mentioned above that inspired it, definitely consider diving into this highly pocketable version of Forager, and drop by the discussion thread our forums to let everyone know what you think about it.
