Back in July of last year developer Clickteam announced that they’d partnered up with Scott Cawthon to take over the development duties of all the mobile versions of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, and in the process they would update and remaster them for today’s mobile devices. In addition, they would be bringing out two games that had previously not received mobile versions yet, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator and Ultimate Custom Night. Alongside this announcement came the updated version of Five Nights at Freddy’s 1, and then a couple of weeks later came the mobile release of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, sometimes referred to as Five Nights at Freddy’s 6. In late October Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 received the remastered treatment, followed by Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 in January and Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 in February. Phew! Now that brings us to the fifth game in the series, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location, which just received its remastered update today. Check out the trailer.
So what does being “remastered" even mean? Well essentially the previous mobile version has been replaced by the superior version from Steam. That means full screen support (if you want it), higher resolution textures, and better animations. It also sports a revamped UI that is more conducive to modern mobile devices. Perhaps more crucially though, previously missing content like the popcorn scenes have now been restored in the mobile remaster. Exotic butters for everyone! For some reason the update for the iOS version of Sister Location is lagging behind, but should be showing up at any moment now. The Android version however is available right this second, and both versions of the game are just $2.99 with no IAP in sight. With this update out in the wild, it would appear that Ultimate Custom Night is the next release for mobile, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for that.
