Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for December 4th, 2019. Hey, wait a minute! Let me check my calendar. Well, what do you know? It turns out I’ve been writing these articles for exactly one year now. I wish I could say I have a big blow-out for you all to celebrate with, but it’s actually a somewhat quiet day. We have some news, a single new release, and a whole lot of expiring sales with very little to replace them. Happy anniversary? Let’s go!
News
‘Trails of Cold Steel III’ Coming to Switch in Spring 2020
Friends, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be excited about this. Falcom’s Trails of Cold Steel III is being brought over to the Switch by NIS America and will release in the Spring of 2020. Originally released on PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2017, it only recently saw a localization into English by NISA. This is the first game in what is now Falcom’s flagship series to hit Nintendo hardware, and that does present a tricky problem. Unlike a lot of other RPG series, the Trails games have a lot of interconnected narrative elements and characters. You’ll probably want to at the very least play Trails of Cold Steel I and II before playing this one. So… maybe grab a Vita? I hear they’re cheap these days. Either way, I’m glad I’ll be able to continue playing this series on handhelds, as nature intended.
Celebrate the First Anniversary of ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ in the Latest Event
Wondering what this weekend’s event will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Well, players with sharp memories may remember that the game came out around one year ago. In honor of that, the latest event is a real celebration. During this Spirit Board event, you will earn triple the usual amount of experience and SP. On top of that, you’ll also get a 50% damage item. The event kicks off on Friday and will run for three days, so make sure you take full advantage of it.
New Releases
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition ($49.99)
SwitchArcade Highlight!
Well, this came pretty much out of nowhere. Okay, it was announced a while ago, but after initially being expected to arrive alongside the other Beamdog Enhanced Editions, the release date seemed like it was up in the air. And now it’s down! On the ground! Where you can pick it up and play it. Neverwinter Nights doesn’t always get brought up when it’s time to talk about the best of Bioware, but I’ll tell you what: it’s an awfully good RPG. I’m not sure how this specific version is yet, as my arms are full of SaGa stuff right now, but after playing the excellent Switch versions of the other Enhanced Editions, I have a great deal of faith in the quality of this one.
Sales
Warning: this is your absolute last call for the Cyber Deals offers. They’re not included in the outgoing list below since there were more than 600 of them. Head to Nintendo’s site or the eShop to check and make your final purchases. As for new sales… well, as you can see, there isn’t a whole lot going on. That may well change after I’m tucked into my little old bed, but in the here and now there isn’t much at all.
