Apple Arcade launches on September 19th and will cost $4.99 a month. This is a family subscription which is great pricing. I expected it to be $4.99 per person and not for a family plan. My biggest takeaway in terms of the games and developers announced and what was shown a few minutes ago is that there Apple needs show more even though there is a free trial happening. Simogo’s newest release is one of my most anticipated games of the year and I can’t wait to play it next week. What do you think of the pricing for Apple Arcade?

Update: Added all the new games announced after the event and fixed a typo.

    What?

  2. Thomas Zink

Apple stated from the beginning that the subscription would include family sharing.

That's the only reason I'd get it. I have 3 kids all with iDevices and they would love this

The pricing is pretty good. 👍

I still think $5 a month is too much. I play a lot of games. but definitely don't spend $60 a year on iPad games, so it's hard to justify the price for my gaming needs. However I can see some people not wanting to deal with ads and F2P nonsense and might want to just pay the monthly fee.

I see your point but it’s different with the subscription, without one you’d take a chance on a game here and there with the subscription you cast a wider net and get more games to try before you buy.

      really lol

But you don't HAVE to subscribe for a whole year, it's month to month. So maybe you sub for a month here and there throughout the year, and in between play other stuff.

      1. Stephanie

Yes, doing it a month or 2 makes more sense if you want to test out a few games. Not a bad idea.

I actually kind of like the idea of subbing for just a month at a time. It would be motivation to actually play and complete games knowing you'd lose access to them, rather than just saying "Oh I'll get around to playing that later" and then it sits in your backlog for ten years.

    Oceanhorn 2: count me in.

Does this mean Pascal's wager is still coming to android

Will we still be able to buy these games ? Or will they only be available through the service they are launching ?

    1. Div1ded

If I understand correctly, they are exclusive to the subscription service.

The rumor is that if a game leaves the Apple Arcade service then it can just be released like a normal game on the App Store, but I haven't seen that officially confirmed.

Editing to add that while a game is on Apple Arcade then no you cannot just buy it outright like a normal game.
